Incredible how many of the talking points are relevant today and even though the size and scope of our Federal government has increased exponentially since that time, all of the programs are still failing and slowly taking the nation down with them.

People are still buying into the false promise of security and safety over freedom and not only trading their rights away, but begging for their rights to be taken in some cases. Sad.

Ronald Reagan was an amazing public speaker. It didn't hurt that the message(s) he so often communicated were almost always on point.

If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend visiting the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, CA, about an hour drive north of LA. I recently visited for the first time and I was highly impressed. They do an excellent job of documenting his life from childhood to the presidency, and they paint an accurate picture of the political challenges of the time (Cold War, his budding relationship with Gorbachev, etc). The facility itself is impressive. There's an actual Air Force One Boeing 707 in there and you'll scratch your head wondering how they got it there.

Outside of nearly tripling the deficit, constantly raising taxes, soaring unemployment, giving amnesty to 3M undocumented immigrants, and illegally funneling arms to Iran and helping to create the Taliban by fighting proxy wars with the Soviet Union by funding/training/equipping the Islamist mujahidin fighters...Reagan was a stand up guy.
