Greattt.... Need help here ( Expert advice ONLY!!! )

so after doing some research on the forums i found out that the front speakers in my 2002 4runner limited are 6 1/2 and the rears are 4 inch... Apparently some people are wrong? I bought 4 inch polks to put in and guess what they are way to small to even remotely fit in the rears.. The Fronts fit fairly well.

Can anyone give me the EXACT size of the stock Rear Speaker dimensions, The Stock Tweeter dimensions. And what will fit in each without modding.

Well I'm a Marine Corps Rifle Expert so I'll go ahead and give you my advice Measuring speakers in a logical manner will not give you the speaker size. For example, if you measure a 6.5" component woofer, you'll find that it doesn't even come close to having a 6.5" diameter. I've found info on how to measure speakers but that doesn't really help since the stock rear speakers don't match any aftermarket replacement sizes. Go with 5.25s and get a 1" speaker spacer. The speaker should drop right in without having too much depth and without sticking out so far as to block the door panel from going back on. The tweeters are a different story. If you don't use the aftermarket mounting cups then you will have to find a way to secure the tweeter to the factory mounting bracket. I honestly think that some 3M automotive moulding tape would work great, but i personally modded the aftermarket mounting cups to fit the mounting bracket.

Cause I modded the rear speakers with a piece of thin plywood so that it could hold the 4inch polk for the time being. So your saying the 5.25 will fit perfectly with a 1inch speaker spacer??

Hahaha well I can't bash them because I'm as sarcastic as anybody, but yeah, a spacer should work fine. I actually think a 1/2" spacer might be a little better. The problem with the 5 1/4s is just the cutout diameter. Speaker depth can be an issue which is why if you use Crutchfield.com for fitment, it will say some 5 1/4s fit and some don't. Since depth was not an issue with my install, I cut out and reshaped the plastic plate in the door panel to fit the speaker. With 51/4s you'll see what I'm talking about. You would need to mount it above the existing cutout by a small amount to get the speaker cone to fit, which a spacer would do well. I would have used spacers myself but I when I realized what I needed, nobody local had it in stock.

first i would trim the ring on the door panel for the speaker , that lil plastic can be trimmed for more clearance when installing the panel back on the door itself, next make 1/2 inch spacer rings for the speakers, u can fit 5 1/4'' speakers on the rear of the 4runner, predrill the holes on the ring then screw to the door, then predill the holes on the ring for the speaker itself then install by hand srewdrivers, reason doing it by hand is that when using power drills, u can over tight a screw and bend the metal frame of the speakers itself,will cause speaker so sound bad, all the pros told me this and i have learn this over the years working on my audio system, i dropped about 8-9 grand on my 07 sport in just audio. take your time and do it right, no need to rush.

Hey Mitch, it's called Google...you can do searches for information on it. Also, Crutchfield gives diameter and depth measurements for vehicles too. God speed.
