Green Ridge Run 1/15-16/2011

Hey guys, I'm glad to see some group rides developing here. I live in Carroll County, MD and would be totally down for any trail rides y'all put together.

I've never been to GRSF, but I have a few trails I ride out in the Cumberland area. Been wanting to hot Green Ridge and George Washington National Forest.

I'm working in Afghanistan until May, but I'll be home (and off work) from Feb 12 thru March 2. Hopefully we can get something going one of those days.

I am thinking about heading back to GRSF on Saturday to do an overnight camping trip if anyone is interested. Either there or go check out GWNF west of Harrisonburg in VA.
 
where is it you guys go? Is there a calender of events? I have an aunt/uncle in anapolis. Was thinking I could visit them and do a lil 4wheelin.
 
Skel suggested a trip on the following dates:

March 25-26

April 1-2

April 29-30

The April dates work best for me. I need to get out there, that's for sure.

I can't give a definite yes or no, work is a little crazy right now and I could be out of town...once dates are established though let me know, I am always down for Mountain Biking / Wheeling
 
Trails are not too hard, was easy with the hard ground of winter. I'm sure when it gets sloppy in the spring things will be a little more difficult. Some clever navigation was needed with a stock vehicle, thats about it... Good scenery and fun time.
 
I should be able to make it that weekend. I'll have my daughter, who is almost 8. Anyone bringing kids? if not I'll coordinate leaving her with the grandparents for the day.
 
Just got pulled off of a work trip, I should be able to make it now!

Don't have any kids myself but if your daughter will have a good time wheelin' that should be a lot more fun than grandmas!
 
Well I would like to go on some of the trips, but I have two questions. First I don't have any off roading experience and does that matter? Second I have a 1986 4Runner that is pretty much stock would it be able to handle the trails?

I'd say this is a pretty good beginners trail but still fun. As far as your 86 goes...that just depends on how reliable your 25 year old vehicle is. My stock 4Runner handles it fine...I would think yours could too as long as its reliable.
 
Old thread but is anyone planning any trips back to GRSF? I think the atv trail is still closed but what about the trails mentioned in this thread?
