Hello to all:

Traded my FJ for a new Trail Edition a few months ago. Been lurking here for some months to get good info and to help to get up to speed on the 5th gen. So far, my friends at Toyota of Dallas and TRDparts4U helped me with the Icon lift. I have installed Shrockworks sliders. Digger from Outrider Offroad just fabricated some rear diff armor, Justin at Roktek Customz is working on (the first?) 5th Gen winch bumper. I will be posting photos and build notes soon.

Plan to wheel in Moab and at the 4th Annual FJSummit this July.FJSummit 2010 National Meet

Let the mods begin!

This thing is gonna be sick for sure! When are you expecting the bumper to be finished? Im pretty sure its gonna be the first ive seen on a 5th gen. Any ideas for the rear?

The bumper should be ready around the first week of July. No ideas on the rear yet. Roktek is still working on a rear bumper for 4th gen, so 5th genners can get in line....

Also trying to get skids sorted out as well. Since the frame / drivetrain is almost identical to 2010 FJ there are options just waiting for someone to test. I am looking at BudBuilt skids and additional bits from Outrider Offroad. Since the fuel tank is unique there will be some custom work to do.

Its going to look good. Be sure to post up pics! What did your old fj look like?

Welcome and congrats on your TE neighbor.:cowboy:

Love to see your bumper when you get it put on.Looks great in the pic ! Rocktek is like 10 miles away and Shrockworks bumpers are probably a long way off.

I'm going thru NC next week and going to have Bud fit some skids. The front skid is going to be different though for the TE's as it has the KDSS sway bar down lower. He has a TE coming in next month to design for it.

Why the switch? So far which do you like more? Id love to have either. Glad to see you stuck w/ silver.

That second shot of the FJ is killer! Cool rides man and welcome to the forums (even though you've been lurking for awhile anyway!)

The more I see the TE's the more I love them. I like 4th gens but the new styling of the 5th gens simply looks more truck-like and similar in the lines to a 3rd gen.

Many reasons for the switch, I think I'll start a thread, but the main one was the FJ was a PRERUNNER! I bought it the first day it was released and it was the beginning of my wheeling enthusiasm and hobby. I explored retrofitting a transfer case and front end but decided the many positive aspects of the T4R were hard to resist. Plus it gave me a new project to work on! :lookout:

Good switch. I love fj's but couldnt live w/ a prerunner. The 5th gen is a great platform to build off of. Cant wait to see this rig progress. Half the fun of this sport is the build!

I still think its kinda odd that we have not bumped into each other... we hang out with the same folks! I'm sure we will see each other before too long!

Welcome to t4r!
