Having followed this forum for a little while I thought I should take a moment to introduce myself. Thanks in part to the enthusiast community here I am now the happy owner of one Nautical Blue 2014 Trail Premium w/ KDSS.
One of the local dealers actually called this specific flavor the "unicorn of 4runners"! Based on my searching over the last couple of months I can attest to the fact that it is pretty rare within the confines of the Southeast Toyota group. I ended up buying this one in Richmond, VA last week; drove it off the lot with only 2 miles on the odometer!
No great pictures yet, but below is a quick cell phone snap while at the NC rest area on the inaugural drive home.
The 4Runner is replacing my 2004 Volvo XC90 DaddyWagon that, while not bad to drive, was too expensive to keep repairing.
After transmission #3 started to fail at 125k miles it was time for a change.
It will also be supplementing my '76 Triumph Spitfire daily driver - an absolute joy to drive but lacking just a little in the practicality department when it comes to hauling 2 kids, 3 hounds, and occasional light duty off-roading... There isn't much suspension travel when you are sitting 4" off the ground!
I look forward to learning more about off-roading and the community here, and the occasional wrenching on the new vehicle for fun (instead of out of necessity to keep it going…). So far I have Bilstein 5100’s on order, completed the LED interior light changeover, put in Weathertech floor liners, and have the windows being tinted tomorrow…
