Hello forum, my name is Justin G.
I am the proud owner of my 5th Toyota, a 1988 4runner (V6 SR5 auto). I am only the second owner, and am happy to say that it was very well taken care of, and is a pleasure to drive (especially in bad conditions) and work on.
I purchased my first Toyota in 1997, it was a 1994 pickup. In 1999 I bought a brand new Tacoma PreRunner (V6 EX Cab). I totaled that truck in 2002, and bought another Tacoma PR(V6 DBL Cab). In 2007 I got a 92 Camry, and when I moved to Seattle (I am back in CA now)I sold it......found this 88 4runner in perfect shape, one owner, new engine, and a pile of receipts. $3000 cash took it.
Seems the owner had the kind of shady mechanic that liked to R/R things at the first sign of wear, so even at 200k, nearly everything mechanical on the truck was less than 30k miles old. The interior is still like new, and only the front left had been crushed a bit (I assume a deer) which led to the guy putting on a great bumper that could easily take out a Grizzly. I got lucky and everything power works, and with the exception of minor occasional tranny slippage, this thing runs like it's brand new.
I'm happy to have found the forum, and have already used you advice to change my Coolant Temp Sensor, Brakes, a fender, and soon my shocks and fuel filter.
It's great to have a car I enjoy working on, and I'll be a Toyota owner for life...The only brand I've ever trusted 100%
I look forward to chatting and taking advantage of some great hard to find knowledge on here. I'll contribute if I can!
