Thought about this for a while and decided to do a quick photoshop of it. It take a little of the FJ's thunder, at the same time being a bit of a retro interpretation of previous generation front ends. Mostly, I just like the TOYOTA word emblem better than the oval.

Let me know what you think!

*BTW, sorry if I borrowed your pic here, it was the most appropriate shot I could find on google.*

I always like the LandCruisers with the big "TOYOTA" emblem on the grille. That being said, I like the gen 4.5 grille. Having the TOYOTA letters on top of a mesh background looks odd. Maybe place the letters on top of a chrome or plain black backing that stretches from left to right of the grille.

See the grayish backing:

i like it, i think it looks different too. Most grills like that look too luxury but that one looks more aggresive because of the spacing of the mesh or whatever it is.

Hey all, thanks for the comments. And good news on progress, I found a big scrap sheet of flattened expanded steel that should be perfect for this. I'm going to pick up a spare factory grill and get started. Unlike this picture, though, I think the mesh will probably end up being black (I'm going to coat it with rubberizer to keep it from rusting and so it won't chip like paint). I think I'm also going to paint the chrome outer edge (along with the rest of the chrome on the truck) a satin silver, for more of an anodized look. I think it should turn out nice. BTW, anyone know where I can get some spare door handles?
