grinding noise

I have a '97 limited 4WD and I'm hearing a scrubbing/grinding noise coming from the front drivers side tire. The noise increases as the speed of the vehicle increases. I was wondering if anyone might have a clue what it could be. I'm thiking it could be one of or both axle bearings??

is the tires hitting inside of the car? mine is, because my car slid sideways and hit the curve. which my alignment is alittle off so that's how my tires made alittle noise. had that fixed after my alignment is straighten out.

Possibly the wheel bearings. Jack up the truck, grab the wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock and push on one side while pulling on the other. If there is any play, it's your bearings.

hey...i have the exact same noise in the exact same place on my 97' 4runner.....except mine started RIGHT after I installed some 2" coil spacers....someone told me it could be the bearings too. let me know if you figure it out and ill do the same....really annoying though huh?

Thanks for the info.... I'm going to check the bearing this weekend. I don't have 2" spacers, but I have installed PP progressive rate springs. They raised my vehicle about 2", but I think is either the bearing or something that I can't find is scrubbing.

ME TOO!!! I posted this in the general section and I thought it might be brakes. But I looked and there is plenty left. Mine is hard to hear, so it has to be totally quite inside. It is proportionate to the tire rotation. Seems to come and go. Its on for a couple seconds and then off. I have been posting all week and I am confused. But I only have 60K and mine is an 02. How many miles do you have?

My 97 has 108,560.... I heard the noise the first time about 8 months ago. It went away after a day and sounded like something was in between the rotor and the thin metal shield behind the rotor. It just recently came back last week and it is sometimes loud and others it is sort of hard to hear, unless you roll the windows down. It has gone away right now, I haven't had a chance to jack the tire up and see if it moves. You would think if it was the bearings, it would do it all the time.

Same thing with my car, mines very subtle though but I can hear it a little bit and I seem to be able to feel it on my pedle I think. I thought it was the brakes, but it sounds like its going slower than the wheels are spinning.

I hate t resurrect this thread, but I am experiencing this same issue. Did anyone finds solution?
