Has anyone used Griot's Hand Polish for fine swirl mark removal? I plan on trying it this coming Veterans Day weekend on my Camry to remove 5 years accumulation of fine swirl marks.

I've used it. It works well for removing light scratches without fear of going too far.

3M swirl mark remover works well too and is a little more aggressive.

Just curious................ how did the Griot's polish work? :dunno:

The Griot's Hand Polish works. Since this is the first time I ever polished a vehicle I don't have anything to compare to. I didn't get out all of the swirl marks. Hand polishing is a lot of work. If I had put a lot more effort into it I should have gotten better results.

The polish was very good for removing scratches that were longer and deeper than a typical "swirl mark". I had several of these scratches that I managed to get mostly rid of using the Hand Polish. Then with a touch of clearcoat touchup paint, a 30 minute wait followed by polishing again with the Hand Polish and these scratches are gone.

I conclude that Griot's Hand Polish is a good hand polish. It starts out abrasive enough to actually do some cutting and then as it is worked it breaks down fine enough to leave a glossy finish on the paint. It is just too much work to expect to use a hand polish to completely remove the "swirl marks" from an entire vehicle. Another nice thing about the Griot's polishes is that they don't have any oily lubricants or fillers so that after using them you can apply a sealant such as Zaino's after a normal wash. Some other makes of polish have oily lubricants and fillers that people recommend removing by wiping with 50/50 isopropyl alcohol/water before applying a sealant.

I have some marring on the sides of my 4Runner, "desert pinstriping", from scraping against bushes while driving offroad. The Griot's Hand Polish should be good for removing this. I think I will try this next time I have the time to wash, polish and apply sealant to the truck.

When I feel enthusiastic enough to attack the swirl marks on the Camry again I will spend the money for a randon orbital polisher machine and perhaps use the Griot's Machine Polishes.

PS
My '98 Camry is a deep burgundy red color, I forget at the moment what the color was called. I really love this color. I saw a new red Tundra recently but its red seemed not quite as dark as the red on my Camry. Do you know if the 4Runner Salsa Red is exactly the same as the Tundra red?

That's good to hear on the Griots polish. I've been thinking about getting some of their products to try. (I have just about everybody else's products :D ) I too like a product that doesn't have fillers in it................. I like to "remove" the imperfections, not "hide" them. Even though I use my PC or rotary with most polishes, it's nice to have a product or two around that can be used by hand.

P.S. The Tundra red is also Salsa Red Pearl.
