RicMan- If you have a good drill and a cutoff wheel it is a piece of cake. Only about 8 bolts to remove old bumper. Then use a cut off wheel to cut the plate off the frame. Use a flap wheel to smooth then hit it with some paint. What I did was fit the bumper on the frame then drill the holes through with the bumper on. One hole is already there but needed a little drilling out. Get a long, I think 1/2" drill bit to be able to drill all the way through, like a 10-12" and also to clear the drill from interfering with other things. The turn signals just pop in and lug in. If you take your time it will go good. I removed the bumper one evening and put the new bumper on the next morning when I was fresh and not drinking beer! You will need a helper to make it easier! If you have the right tools layed out it should only take about 4 hours total. Of course I had to run back an forth to the store to get more cut off wheels then longer drill bit. Get a good bit=titanium and it will go through easy.

Has anyone had any issues with the accesability of the winch controls? Seems it might be a little tight to gain access.

How wide are the Dring mounts? I know a lot of companies use 3/4" mounts for thier bumpers. Seem they would hold the D-ring more stable and cause less rattles. Any thoughts?

My milemarker has the clutch lever on the front side of the barrel not the top. I'll grab some pictures tonight and post them up. Also where are people mounting the control box for their winches?

For the third question. I was just wondering what the thickness of the D-ring tabs are. They look like 1/2" or so thick. I know for your rear bumpers they connect all the tubes together so there is a lot of reinforcement. Are the mounts on the front bumper just welded to the face? Just wondering about sticky side pulls with someone pulling a recovery strap during recovery and how they will hold up.

We sell a wire extension kit that allows you to move the box to the side ...Thats the other opening in the top of the bumper so you can plug your controller in. Some have moved it under their hood with longer wires.

The shackles mounts are really strong. I was wheeling with some friends this past winter and had to do multiple running start yanks to get a 1st gen runner unstuck from some heavy snow. I got about 7 or 8 solid yanks at a 45 degree angle before the 20,000lb strap broke. We used the winch after that :lol:

Thanks for the speedy response. I tend to ever think everything.... and to go along with that, I tend to overbuild everything too which causes a lot of uneeded weight :sadwave:

Its good to know that everything so far has exceeded expectations.

Hopefully when the time comes Jim, I will be able to take a trip down to see the shop, pick them up personally and have a couple beers with you again.

I've been a fan of the OL bumper since day one. It's very modern and just easily the best looking, just like the style on the cars from the 50's and 60's some effort on lines and details rather than a hunk of steel. IE: the bumper lights matching the stock lights in color and angle. Saving my pennies! imp:

Keep in mind that the ARBs were never designed for the 4Runner - rather for the Tacomas.

Knew that - I was speaking of their fit on Hilux's, BJ75, FZJ80, Tacoma's, Land Rover D110, D90, and Disco I.... We've put a crap load of bumpers on and my OL is one of the best fitting bumpers I've come across. (Well....I put a Rovertime Bumper on my D1 and it fit damn good....)

Really stoked on how my bumper came out. Mines the prerunner in the first 2 pics Jimmy posted above. I had him widen the bar to match the profile of the grill and am very happy with the results.

In case any of you guys that got the bumper want to fix the hyper flashing from the LED turn signals. I just replaced my flasher unit and it was easy as can be.

I heard mixed reviews on using the restrictors as they didnt always solve the problem and got hot. You can get one of these flashers and just plug it in and it takes it back to normal. Plus now if one of your other non LED bulbs burn out you'll know.

Here are two links. I got mine at Autozone in So-cal and apparently from what I read it has to be the - TRIDON EP35 flasher - that says LED on it. Autozone has another aftermarket one by blazer more readily available, but I'm not sure if that one works and it didnt say LED so I would look specifically for the TRIDON EP35.

Also the flasher relay is located underneath the dash BEHIND the fuse box. You have to take off the bottom part of the dash, 4 10mm bolts and 2 more to unscrew the fuse box to get to the back.

Hey, Thanks for your info.. I recently put on ODL bumpers and got the flashers from a trailer store and I go tthe EP35 to fix the hyper flashers, but this relay is bigger than the one I have in my 2002 Runner... any suggestions or go around to fix this problem?

I know this is an old thread.. but...

Ok took a picture from drivers seat so you can see how much of the hoops are visible.

perfect. just high enough to see, but not get in the way.

Having the hoops just right there is helps especially on the trail of knowing where your corners are but not so tall they are distracting. Of course getting out and wheeling on a regular basis helps too with knowing where they are, now I know they are protected though.

being able to see the absolute furthest contact point is nice.
