guadalupe mountains national park

me and the wife are thinking about making a trip to guadalupe mountains national park when my knee is better (had an acl/meniscus surgery 4 weeks ago). has anyone been there? the website says there is a couple of trails that require 4x4. this will be our first road trip/off-roading with the runner. we are excited!

I've never been there, but I had an ACL surgery in 2005. It took me maybe 2-3 months to walk semi-normally, and could only walk for a short period. 6 months I was 90% back to normal. Good luck on the recovery. It's not fun.

Went there back in '04. Enjoyed the views and the backcountry. Did not enjoy the winds. We camped on the mountain and ended up walking down at 4am with sand in every place possible. Don't know a thing about the trails in GMNP, but I have taken my Civic on some of the Big Bend 4x4 recommend trails and made it through it so my guess would be they are not that bad.
