Gunna get XM where should i put the screen for it

So, any ideas on where i should put the screen for the XM radio?

Don't want to mount it on the dash, so any other ideas would be appreciated

This is something my installer cobbled together for my Lexus. It's mounted to the trans tunnel.

Not at all. It's a pretty good solution. I don't think the parts they used were for this specific application. They were just lying around the shop, but I think there is something out there that equates this that is made for the Sky-Fi unit.

Is there a real difference b/w xm and sirius? Just wondering

Got me. I've never heard Sirius. I guess it's the way to go if you're a big Howard Stern fan, which I am not. My bro said that he heard Sirius at a friends house and liked the selection of old punk rock they played on one fo the channels.

Oh yea, and which unit is that one. I know that there is a couple of them out there, and since i am on the family plan b/c of my dad i can get a monthly fee for like 7 bucks

That unit is the Delphi Skyfi, which you can pop out and use inside your home with an adapter or use it in a specially made boom box. The drawback is that you have to use an FM modulator to use it in your current car stereo. If you are doing a complete system change you may want to buy a head unit that is made for XM. You'll have the digital signal that way, as opposed to converting to analog thru the modulator. I'm not that big of an audiophile so I don't really care about the purest of sound.

Chunderboy: Good snowy morning! I have been thinking about this for months now. I want to get the Roady2 because of its small size. And if I do, I would like to modify the “flip-down” section of the armrest. I measured both and it would require removing the flip-out section of the armrest for modifying (cutting with a Dremel tool). But I think it would be really cool because it would be concealed, when not in use. Let me know what you finally do.

Wow, i didnt' even think of that. Nice job. I am going out to look at that now.. But instead of cutting, i want to find something else. After all it is a lease. I think i am going tohave to buy this thing, cuz i just love driving it all the time. Miles are becoming an issue

Luckly I owned a stereo with xm capabilities, so I just plugged in the xm adapter and away i went. I can control the satellite with the head unit and i didn't have to worry about where to mount that big bulky unit.

Sirius Radio has the exclusive rights to all of the NFL Football games while XM has acquired the exclusive rights for MLB Baseball starting in this '05 season. Both systems offer the NBA games. I listen to the west coast games every night whenever I start to work. BTW, I got the Sirius unit for the NFL and not Howard Stern. He just happen to land on this satellite service after I'd bought a 2 yr subscription. Sirius is $12.95/mo with nothing extra (every channel is included in yearly price) and XM is $9.95/mo plus extra for preminum channels. I hope this helps in your decision.

Now, ya see, i wasn't aware of that. Are the premium stations that much different than the ones on XM. Also, i am much more of a hockey fan than football. I wonder if either one gets that station. That is if they ever have a efing season again.

How much was the actual display pannel and install for the sirius

I have an Xact Sirius unit, similar design as a PDA. I mounted mine in the coffee cup holder temporarily. It is a good spot as it can be viewed by passenger or driver.

Are you still interested in getting the Toyota navigation system? If so, maybe you should hold off on getting satellite radio until you get your navigation system installed. The Toyota navigation system can display the satellite radio data right on the screen.

When I eventually get satellite radio, I plan on using my navigation screen...
