Gurgling Sound

92 V6 4Runner 226k on it.

replaced water pump, timing belt and radiator. I hear gurgling sound coming from the dash. Can't get rid off it. Driving me nuts.

Only happens when heater on hot and when accelerating.

any ideas?

Probably just water passing through the heater core, both my 4Runners and my Jeep Wrangler did that when I first revved the engine after starting up.

Most likely there is an air pocket in the heater core.
You can usually get it out by getting the front end higher than the rear, removing the rad cap, heat on max, and start the engine. As it heats up and coolant flows, it should work it's way out.

That noise is just very irritating. Gonna try lifting my front end up higher the the rear and see if that helps. Now just wondering if the rear heater is tied with the Heater core as well? Should I turn the rear heater on while trying to "burp" the system.. I guess it is worth a shot.

I'll let you all know once i find an incline.

Yes, the rear heater is tied in parallel to the front heater, put in on full hot also.

Just want to say that you guys ROCK!!!

I coulnd't wait to put the my rig on an incline so basically I took the radiator cap off and turned my heaters on full blast.. both front and back..

let it go up to temp and sit for approx 20 min. Put the cap back on and began to drive off..

guess what NO GURGLING!!!!!!!

just an update.

Today I got back on the road and noticed that I didn't have a gurgling sound, but more like the water slithering through the pipes.

I haven't had to refill the coolant so somehow I might have gotten air into it.. I'll try putting it up on an incline and see if it gets the rest of the air bubbles out.

This thing is now driving me bonkers.

I have tried it on an incline. which I may add works very well... however noticed that the heater is not working. only blows cold/ambient air...

is my core blocked up? Also noticed, when i had the cap off, that the coolant was moving "glacially" slow through the radiator?

is this a sign of a stuffed up heater core? what can i do to alleviate?

No heat is an indication of a few possible problems:

1 - Clogged heater core
2 - 'Bypass' valve is stuck, there is a valve that controls the flow of water into your heater core just inside the engine bay very near the center of the truck.
3 - Lack of coolant
4 - Engine is not warming up (stuck thermostat
