Gutting the catalytic converter

So i rolled my car a couple of months ago, and the truck had been running pretty poorly post rolling. I thought maybe some oil had gotten into the cat and clogged it up causing some back pressure and resulting in a lack of breathing air in. I cleared my cat out and it turns out that it was actually fine but when i gutted it, i didnt run a pipe straight through it. Im not too sure if i like the sound or not and i was wondering if maybe i did run a pipe through it if it would increase the sound quality.

Not really, its still going to be obnoxious. I ended up going with an ebay cat, had to talk to it a little to get it fit right but it sounds a lot better than the stock cat did.
