True, still those ultra stiff sidewalls are going to make ride rougher.
Agreed, it's one of the trade offs you accept for the additional protection. The rough ride can be minimized by not airing up your E rated tires excessively. 35 psi is the min pressure for LT tires and as long as you're not exceeding the load carrying capacity of the tire at the min pressure you should only add pressure as you require to improve gas mileage/handling.
I've been running 38psi in my E rated tires on my two Tacomas for ~200K (combined) and don't find the ride to be excessively rough. For me I find the compromise to be well worth the extra protection, but I'm off-road a lot in areas with a lot of mesquite trees and sharp rocks......
