H11 bulb the same as an H16?

Ok. I got my H9's in and modified the tab to allow it to fit in the headlight.

I then did a better comparison of the h11 and h16 bulb. The tab on the h11 needs to be trimmed just like it does on the h9 for it to fit. I took about 3mm or even a bit less off the top tab of the oem Phillips h11 and it slid right in to the fog light.

hope this helps everyone. i'm sure other h11's may not need to be trimmed but the oem Phillips ones do.

Just waiting on my 9011's and all be set.

Hey all, I just want to give a huge shout out to everyone that contributed to this thread. I bought an "H16/5202" HID kit for my 2015 4Runner Limited fog lights and low and behold, they're not the right bulb. So my Google search brought me here to THIS THREAD and I completely found every answer I was looking for. If it seems like some threads just won't die, it's because they have answers people are looking for!

I had already replaced my H11 stock headlights with H11 HID, so I had the bulbs left over from removing them. I did the "trim the back tab" trick as mentioned and threw them into the fog light housings. I can confirm they are SUPER HOT temp compared to the stock fog lights, and I really couldn't tell much of a difference between the H11 and the H16 light output. So I backed them out, and I've ordered an H11 25w HID kit from OPT7 and will be installing them as soon as they arrive.

I know everyone says they'll post pics, but I did take pics tonight of the stock fogs, and "I'll post pics" next week when I get the new HID kit in.

Once again, mad props to everyone that contributed that brought me here to sign up just to let you all know how much you helped me out.

Our 2015 4Runner Limited 4x4 is my first Toyota. I have a couple of Raptors that we off-road in but as my family continues to grow, we needed to add a family vehicle that seated 7 and the 4Runner was the obvious winner. We just picked it up last week 6/10/15 here in SoCal.

I look forward to posting again as I have more questions/comments regarding our travels with it.

Putting these in the fogs. What would you recommend for the headlights? Highs and lows? I think want to upgrade everything.

Coming from a car with excellent HIDs, I can't go back to halogen.

The 2015 Toyota 4 runner uses an H11 bulb for the low beams (2015 Toyota 4Runner Lamp replacement Guide), and comes equipped with factory projector headlights.

For the headlights, you can go with either an H11 LED headlight kit, or an H11 HID conversion kit. Either way, you will get a nice cut-off and beam pattern, but going with a 4300k HID kit will yield the brightest possible results. Here is a great post comparing the differences in a 2015 Highlander (also projector headlights):

For the fog lights, I would definitely go with the Philips H16 LED bulb, as you will find the LED headlight kit (or HID Kit) too bright.

You should also consider the risk of melting the fog housings in a 2014+.

Halogen H16's are rated at 19W, and people (including at least one member on this forum) have experienced issues with installing higher wattage bulbs.

XenonDepot doesn't appear to list the wattage for their H11 LED headlight kit. Otherwise their lumen rating isn't much higher than that of the Philips X-treme Ultinon bulb (2500 vs. 2400, respectively). There may be some other design element behind XenonDepot's suggestion that their H11 LED headlight kit is far brighter.

They are 20watts each, but its an LED so they run way cooler than halogens.

Yes - But I personally suggest going with the Philips ones. The beam will be pretty much the same between both of them, it's just that the Philips' one will not be as bright.

I purchased the Phillips LED H16 from Xenon Depot and installed them with no issues.

Huge difference and they run I believe at 19w which is way cooler.
A great light and a great company to buy from.

Here in Cali its not legal to use LED headlights plus I researched and the light doesn't project at all. It just washes out at any distance.
Just get some quality hallogens.

I tried the H11 in the fogs first but the base is ever so slightly different.
Had to really force it in.
Like someone said they sit at an angle and way too hot.

The Phillips are definitely the way to go in the Fogs.

Just curious why the Philips Automotive Lighting site does not show the yellow version of the H16 LED that is shown on your site ????

I searched the Philips site using all and various parts of "Philips H8/H11/h16 X-treme Ultinon (12793UNIX2) LED Fog Bulbs" as shown on your site. I only come up with the white, no yellow.

Thanks. Curiosity was based on the OSRAM H16 yellow halogen I had seen that was done by yellow coating a white H16 halogen. Being done in Taiwan and also not shown on the OSRAM site.
