H11 Silverstars

VUI Guy I'm pretty sure the 65 watt H9 bulb is a standardized bulb so the bulb shape and size etc should be the same for all H9s regardless of which manufacturer you buy them from. The light output may vary between manufacturers but should generally be within spec for H9 bulbs. I'm not sure if there are links in this thread to trimming the bulb etc but if you Google swapping H11 bulbs for H9 bulbs you should be able to find some pictures and " do it yourself " guides.

Here's a do-it yourself from an RX8 site

DIY: Converting an H9 bulb to fit H11 fog light socket. - RX8Club.com

Just to get this strait, the HIR1's are for highs, and H9's for low beams and fogs if you want them for driving lights?

Finally bit the bullet and took the advice from this site and made the H11 to H9 swap in my 06 sport. Since shipping was the same either way i went ahead and ordered the HIR1 for the highs as well.

Plenty of dark country roads out here, so I've been looking for a upgrade. Not interested in the price and hassle of HIDs though. After much research, this seems to be exactly what I need.

Very straight forward process thanks to this site. I just received and installed them today so I'm looking forward to trying them out tonight.

I'm glad this topic has helped out some folks! for the money and output, the H9 lows and the HIR's for the highs are great! I only wish I would of looked at my fogs to see that they had the right reflector for putting in HIR's there too. Here in Arizona I don't really ever need fogs, and if I did I would get some yellow bulbs for that purpose. I should make a post to sum up all the info and have it made into a sticky. if somone already has some before and after pics that would help to, since I never took any. Or just change them out again and take some pics with identical camera settings to get a true difference in the change of the output.

I installed the plain jane H9 bulbs on 11-30-2009, as of 06-08-2012 I had to replace the bulbs due to them being shot (they wouldn't illuminate until I tapped on the back of the bulb). Guess I won't keep my headlights on 24/7 when I drive from now on, as I killed the original bulbs that quickly!
