H2-H4-L4 knob not working

Hey fellas,
Last night I replaced my cd player with a scion unit that plays mp3. Everything went smooth and made sure I reconnected all connectors on the back of the dash and checked the back light on all buttons and knobs including the gear selector knob(H2-H4-L4). This morning I noticed that I was in 4WD(I noticed the green indicator on the dash) while the knob was in H2 position. I tried switching to H4 and back to H2 but that did absolutely nothing. Also tried engaging L4 with the same result.
The question is should I remove the dash again and disconnect/reconnect the connector or there some kind of software/ECU reset I have to do.
Please advise.

I would try just disconnecting the negative on the battery for about 30 seconds and put it back on and see if that works. If that doesn't work then make sure that the center lock is not engaged, since the truck is in 4wd leave it on 4H while you do this.

I had the same symptoms after upgrading my head unit.
I had to re-connect properly the connector on the back of the knob 2H/4H/4L connector.

It wasn't fully engaged .

Normally you can access it only by removing the AC control, no need to open up everything again.

Sounds like the problem to me. Might not have clicked in all the way.

Thanks for all your help and advices guys. This is what the problem turned out to be. I was careful at putting that connector in. Not sure how i managed to bend a pin. Apparently those pins are pretty soft and i managed to straighten it up without breaking. :banana:

Oh good. I've pulled those things in and out a million times and never bent a pin. You must have just gotten really unlucky! Glad you were able to bend it back without snapping.

Can the switch actually go bad? I made sure the connection was good and no pins are bent but when I turn the knob nothing happens at all, no light, no beep. etc.
