H20 from tail pipe???

Hello all, I have traced the surging idle to low coolant and high idle?
Have notice that the tail pipe puts out white smoke, I thought this was just due to age but it seems to have h20 puddling up at idle under pipe?
Is this a head gasket?
Any help would be great.

Could be a sign, you might want to check some other signs of a blown head gasket like coolant or oil dripping from head, bubbles in the radiator, coolant leaking... Sorry not an expert here just have heard these are other signs

I used to own a 83 celica with the 22re, I noticed the idle was shifty then on occasion id see white smoke in the rearview mirror, then all of a sudden one day the temp gauge went towards the red quickly and (because it was my only car) i drove it a couple more times reluctantly and the idle got rougher, and it was billowing white smoke like Uncle Buck, I could smell the antifreeze in the exhaust, which is typical of a headgasket, i took it in hoping i hadnt cracked the block or warped the head and was fortunate to only need a new headgasket, basically if you experiance someting close to this you should take it in and stop driving it, the 22re is a badass engine but will only handle so much, also beware even with a bad headgasket, the 22re can hold great compression, i took it in for a look at the first signs of overheating and they did a compression check, but because the comp. was so solid they ruled out the HG.,

Until the exhaust system gets heated up, a bit of water is supposed to be normal, especially if it's cool out. However, if it is significant and linked to strange stuff happening to the engine during idle, like these guys are suggesting, I don't know anything about that.

Could be head gasket on the way out. Mine used to blow white smoke just on startup, more noticeably in colder weather obviously. Once warm it was fine. I just put it down to condensation in the exhaust system.

It eventually blew but I had no other symptoms like the milky oil etc. Just losing small amounts of oil and coolant. Having to top up about 1 litre of each every 2 weeks or so.

Definitely get the HG checked! I had the exact same problem. I saw the temp gauge spike and pulled that sucker over as soon as I could and popped the hood and turned the heat on full blast. Just as I turned it off, the white smoke came spewing out and there was antifreeze on the tranny, and a little on the firewall. Not something to be taken lightly, eh? Cracked the block in three places Good luck
