H3 bulbs or Halogen bulbs?

What are the differences between H3 bulbs and Halogen bulbs? Which one is better? Which one can you upgrade to HID?

they both are halogen bulbs, what size do u need in your application? h3 is a size. if u want h3 hid kit, get it from www.retro-solutions.com , the h3 hid bulb is the same size as the halogen h3 bulbs, its not a hid bulb from the d2s size rebase to the h3 base.

Thank you. I was looking at aux lights and saw the description but don't know the differences.
