h4/l4 question

Hello guys can somebody tell me in which mode do i have to be in while driving in the city limits is it the H4 or the L4 i have a 2007 4runner v8 all wheel drive..i couldnt get the answer anywhere.
Also give me some instructions changing it

h4. Only put it in L4 when you're offroad and in some sticky situation.

Oh, and simply turn the knob on the dash that's located to the right of the steering wheel. It's underneath the rear window roll up/down button. Make sure the knob is vertical to be in H4. When moving it from L4 to H4, it will be a counter-clockwise turn.
