Hail Damage on my 05 4Runner

I don't know what section to post this question, so I chose this one.

It is a heart breaking moment for me to see dents all over my baby. We have a golf ball size hail storm yesterday afternoon in Northeast Oklahoma. I got a Silver color and the dents are pretty obvious showing.

I have call insurant to get me the estimation this morning and will try to take it to the body shop.

I have heard about the dry ice method. I would like to know if anyone here used this method before. Will it work? Will the method damage the clear coat and paint?

Sorry to hear about the damage. Hope it all works out. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the method that you speak of since I am unfamiliar with it. I just wanted to lend you some compassion.

I live in Dallas, Texas so I know the kinda storms you are talkin about. I had major hail damage (about 4,000 dollars) on my 99 a couple years ago. Insureance gave me a check and I took it to get fixed. I wanted to take it to a normal body shop so I good hopefully get some new paint in some places but i decided to do the paintless dent removal. It was cheaper and got to keep some extra cash. It worked great. All the dents were gone. Looked just like it did before the storm.

Very sorry to hear that. I watched those towers build here in OKC.

I had a vehicle badly damaged from the 4" hail stones that accompanied with the tornado that went across Lake Hefner at Britton Road and hit Nichols Hills in the late 90's. Fred Jones Body Shop did the work but did not use dry ice. Get estimates from several places and see what insurance will pay for. The body shop will do it right and take care of your paint.

Crap! I'm in Norman, and that same storm originated here and headed your way. There was some major rotation (a tornado precursor for you non-midwesterners) going on, and I feared the worse. Are you in Tulsa? If so visit the dent doctor. They're in the phone book and have fixed a couple of my parents cars. Good paintless dent repair....good luck.

Yes, I am in Tulsa.
I actually got my estimation from Dent Doctor. They quoted me and was $800 lower than my insurance estimation. Therefore, I have enough to cover the repair cost plus my deductable.

I think I will go with Dent Doctor. They have good reputation in Tulsa here. Forget about the dry ice method.

Man! I don't know how lucky down the road since we live in Oklahoma.

Dry ice is used by alot of those dent places successfully but it depends on the size and location of the ding or dent but if the shop is worth a damn they will take care of it no matter what methods they use.
