Looks like very similar specs to the hanma BC series except the lens is "toughened glass" (but that wouldn't matter so much for me if it goes behind the grille)

it says the beam pattern is "flood" at 60 degrees, but hanma is "flood" at 90.

Thoughts and opinions?

Please don't say it's cheap chinese garbage. I know it's cheap and Chinese, but so is Hanma (well, Japanese) and people seem very satisfied with their products. I'm just looking for someone else to take a look at the descriptions and stuff and give me an opinions since the price is definitely right and the amazon reviews seem good, but thats a breeding ground for trolls. It's even got a warranty.

It actually looks like the B series, which is the original LEDs that Hanma made like zstampe and I had in the beginning. Neither Zach nor myself had problems with our but IIRC [MENTION=44999]HOJeepster[/MENTION] had one that leaked pretty bad. edit - He said his was from Totron, but my last payment to Hanma went to Totron Co. Ltd.

The BC series also has a more robust housing and CREE bulbs while those have Epistar bulbs.

Nope, Hanma is Chinese. Most people associate Japan with higher quality products (Nikon, Sony, Toyota)

It's even got a warranty.

You sure about that? I didn't read the whole ad but I did see a big disclaimer under the price saying it wouldn't be covered under the company's warranty policy.

Are you talking about HID headlights or auxiliary lights? Because I dunno if it'll be brighter than 2 or 3 of those 55W 7" HIDs, but it'll definitely blow your headlights (and halogen auxiliary lights I've seen) out of the water.

Yeah that statement is pretty weird. It definitely contradicts the "One year warranty" - maybe the warranty is through the manufacturer and the seller is saying that they won't deal with it? Not sure, but it's a little fishy. They do have a 3 day return policy though if it's a total POS and doesn't work at all.

I was talking about my headlights, that's good to know.

and thanks for the info about the epistars. I'm never gonna get it near 30,000 hours, that's 3 and a half years.

I guess I can try to contact the seller.

Just figured it out, the warranty thing, that is - Those are other sellers that sell "MicTuning" lights and their warranties are voided. However this seller is MicTuning so the warranty would be valid.

It's 60 degrees, according to my spec sheet for the B series bars the flood beam is 60 degrees. It's gonna be bright as crap, but I'd probably go for the spot version if it's available. If not, that's still a good price and the flood is gonna put out a metric ton of light.

I think I was editing my above post as you were typing this lol. They have the combo 60/30 that I listed the link to above. The reviews seem a little worse for that one, some guy seems to think that the optics are poor but the other two are positive reviews. It's an extra 20 bucks for the spot/flood combo which I can swing (after I return that HF saw that you suggested for my satoshi)

So there's no prime shipping, but it's free. Seem like a good deal for this thing?

I'm leaning pretty heavily toward the above combo beam one, mounted behind the grille or lower grille. I'd probably tint the lens, so i hope it's bright as crap!

Returning the multi-tool? You're gonna miss is when it comes time to sand down all those little nubs...

I wouldn't buy the last posted LED personally. It looks like one of the original chinese knock off bars. I think there's gotta be a reason you don't see many of those...

Yeah, i think i'll go with the spot/flood combo wit the warranty.
I'm finishing my satoshi, then doing my gauge swap and then i'll buy this once I can put all that to bed.
I'm gonna return the saw, i should be done with cutting and i'd rather invest in a better one, this one is like beyond the norm POS for HF, but it got the job done.

I see, yeah I got a craftsman NEX series cordless one. So far it has been great. I think it was on sale for $50 (with battery and charger) when I got mine.

Nice. cordless would have been the way to go. I love HF for things that don't have moving parts. All my cordless tools are craftsman cordless 19.2v and i like most of them.

So moral of the lighting story, you think I should splurge the extra 20 bucks and get the combo pattern?

I can't promise you it'll make a big difference over the flood only, but I'd probably do it myself if it's only $20.

I figured I may as well post this in the same thread. I'm working on a pending sale right now for something else to scrounge up the funds for this thing.

On that note, was it [MENTION=50591]gaterose[/MENTION] that mounted the bar behind the grille? I remember seeing some set ups where this was done, a few looked kinda sketchy and I was wondering about the best way to do this. I'm trying to make a drawing in sketch up, but I was thinking -

Weld two brackets to the subframe of the grille so that they protrude back and then use the mounting brackets with the light bar so it maintains adjustability and then mount 2 more brackets supporting these. Like > sort of? does that make sense? would that fail horribly? Can the subframe/small brackets take the bouncing around of the 7LB light bar?

edit here are my sketch ups (its the first time i ever used sketch up, be easy on me) - the yellow bar is the face of the light bar and the rest is the subframe of the grille and the brackets

No I never mounted one behind the grille.

I believe HOJeepster, Ark_Swamp_Rider, momo.75, and a few others have though.

edit - just realized you meant upper grille. Can't think of who has done that.

I think the welds would hold, but I'm not sure how the weight of the bar would affect the hood opening, closing, and holding itself up.

7 lbs. isn't much, but then again it's a lot more than just the grille.
