Hard shifting

so this has been going on for a while....
95 3vze all track automatic

the transmission has been hard shifting for a while now. apon start up it would be real hard. then as i go for a few miles it would get softer but i can still feel the tranny shifting hard. When pull the dipstick after driving for a while and after whipping it and putting the stick back in and out, the fluid level goes over the "HOT" level. You cant see it that well in this pick, just know that tranny fluid is covering the word "HOT"

questions:
1. Is this the result of to much tranny fluid or not enough tranny fluid?

2. can to much tranny fluid cause the overheating problems? (since tranny fluid is cooled by radiator)

3. Can anyone list all the things that can cause hard shifting?

4. Can anyone give me proper draining and refilling procedures for automatic transmission?

wipe the tranny fluid on a white napkin or something then take a picture of the fluid on the napkin.

hard shifting can be caused by many things, but its not really bad unless it exceeds the rev limit for the engine.
burnt fluid
clogged filter
bad shift solinoid
bad valve body.

yeah did all that the pick i took is after i whipped the stick. fluid still red. i changed the filter and fluid last year in november. i think i drained it right..... i had to take the pan off so im sure the all the oil was out. however i did not drain he tranfer case. is that bad? My thermostat kicks up a bit a little above halfway. thats why i was wondering if too much fluid was heating up the radiator.

I know the over heating is not what anyone thinks.

I replaced the HG Radiator water pump and thermostat so all good there.

its either got to be air bubbles or tranny fluid heating up the Rad or faulty thermo sensor.

either way hard shifting and thermo stat kicks up

the transfer case and transmission are separate fluids.

when you drop the tranny pan you get about 1/4th the fluid that is in the system.

cooling issues with the t stat will stop the OD from working if that is not happening then i wouldnt put much stock in that being the issue

this actually makes sense since i was messing with the tps and accelarator cable and shift linkage cable.

Toyota 22RE Throttle Position Sensor

This what I used for my 91. I know it says 22re, but the process is the same. Double check the specs with the FSM.
