Hardshell Rooftop Carrier

I'm in the market for a rooftop carrier in the near future. I'd be looking for something with a profile like the Thule Pulse (Alpine size), but maybe not as long. I'm trying to find something that is only about half the width of that. I'd need to be able to have half the rack open, and the cargo carrier on the other half.

Has anybody seen anything like this? I was considering a hardshell rooftop ski holder, but I'm not sold on the design.

Youre going to use it for skis right? If so I'd go with something like the Yakima powderhound. It'd help your aerodynamics a lot more and they look better than the soccer mom-esque cargo boxes. My buddies got the powderhounds and he loves them.

I don't think I'll put the skis in there. We're already using the Yakima Ski Slopes to hold our xc skis. Looking for something like the Thule, but shorter to carry random gear that we're not using at the time. This is going to be used when we hit the road in about a year or so. We're going to need to carry a lot of backpacking/camping gear that won't all fit inside. Not to mention all the random crap the most females like to bring that they'll never use.

I've found that the large fabroc cargo bags work a lot better than the hardshells. They're much easier to take on and off and they come in a myriad of shapes and sizes

We've had some soft bags, and the outcome has never been good. I never fails that our stuff ends up wet. The hardshell will stay in place while traveling so that's not an issue.

I don't think anything is out there that I'm looking for.

I've never seen anything with that shape that's that small other than the alpine. We treated out cargo bags with never wet and it works amazing. If it supposed to pour rain then I put stuff that can't get wet in trash bags (Though I've never needed them)

Yack or Thule

I've used both the Yakima and Thule boxes and they are both great.

Currently I have a Yakima Sky box and use it for camping gear.
