Hey I can post up some photos of how I did my belltronics if you want. I didnt tap a fuse, I tapped the cig lighter and I retained the remote and put it in a switch blank. theres a million ways to do this... you can tap into the map lights too, search around the forum for ideas

For my 3rd gen I just tapped into the map lights right above the rear view mirror. The hardwire kit was about $8 on ebay and it only took a couple minutes to install.

Ok, quick reply while am working on my truck ready for our roadtrip tomorrow. This post reminds me to bring a radar detector.
1. Tap from acc or lighter fuse( anyway it draws less current)
2. Run wire though da driver's side pilar.. to the headliner
3. Remember spring break cops are unforgiving to speeders with radar detectors.:surfer:

most of these "radar detectors" are becoming less useful in today's world... Laser technology has all but usurped the need or use of less accurate radar technologies used in police forces. even here in my Podunk town in WY radars are not used any more...(my father is a captain and he over sees all purchases.new cars/Chargers/ and equipment, etc.) I know that none of them are equip with radar's and instead use lasers...(this is only within the city limit) but some police forces can ticket you for an assumed speed without using any equipment...Just-FYI
radars work by using an echo location/signal bouncing algorithm to determine the rate of speed/ where as the laser measures the returning wavelength (light)
which moves much much faster... by the time your device can sense it its already too late...I'm not trying to discourage you from doing this as I am sure some cars/ police are still using them... but I know that the lasers have become very affordable and more accurate...although most lasers are still not used when in motion (this will change soon)...
just don't rely on it for keeping you from driving right by a police officer and getting a ticket without so much as a peep from your radar detector...

So you may wanna remove the pillar, pop the covers off the handle and theres two bolts. make sure the wire doesn't block your air bag, and run a ground to the map lights, tap the compass or mirror power. Easiest way to do it is to use the mirror tap cable (30 bucks but well worth it) where you just shove a prong in the back of the mirror, google it. I also have since filled the little hole with black epoxy putty so it looks better. I did it so I could have a remote by the throttle. where I tapped cig for power and then diced up the cig plug and ran 4 wires and a jack to the radar detector for the remote:

I hardwired my 9500ix in my 05 limited, it was very easy. the hardest/most time consuming is hiding the wiring for a clean look. I tapped into the cigarette lighter (+) wire and grounded it to a random bolt near the shifter.
I ran the wire under the driver's side panel and up the A-pillar, stuffed it into the headliner and out by the rearview mirror.
I also purchased the blendmount metal adapter to attach it to the mirror. expensive, but very clean look and it's sturdy.
