Venture trim looks like stop gap between the TRD OR and the PRO.

Same Shocks, wheels, and OR features as the pro, No grill, badging, skid or tires. (comes with HT duelers.

And a Yakima Rack.

LOL....I have driven every year since 2011(Mine)...The same except for some trim. Can't blame them, it continues to sell well but I need some excuse to upgrade..

Clearly on that video the 'VP of Marketing" does mention the Fox internal bypass shocks.
I wonder are they the same as on the Pro? also, why would KDSS be available for this model? and not the Pro?

I'm a bit confused.

I own a 2014 BMW x3 with only 30k miles, that I might need to replace next year or by Aug 2021 the latest (extended warranty runs out). I am considering getting me a vehicle that is good on and off road (4x4), bulletproof in terms of mechanics and technology (even if not the latest) and something that I can run for at least 10y.
note: One of the ideas is to retire, make a trip across the US [pulling a small camper] for 1y and then head to South america and spend a few years getting to know the full continent

So, if I choose the 4runner route, I could buy the 2020 MY (the red venture looks sexy btw) or wait until 2021


So, a couple of questions:

- Is there any chance that we will see a new engine or trans in the 2021 model? I would be happy with a design similar to the 2020 model, plus improvements in the front fascia (taking some cues from new RAV4), specially the headlights -> the headlights of the current model are fugly, a more powerful V-6 [than taco] and a 8sp trans. What I do not want to buy is a vehicle with hybrid engine or a turbo 4 banger; I would only buy a turbo if it were diesel, which is not likely; They tend to be thirsty (the EPA for my vehicle is 20 city and I am lucky to average 16 mpg) and offer lower reliability long term, so I do not want to follow this route again

- How does the venture trim compares to the TRD pro? Would I lose too much payload and towing capacity with the TRD PRO? Any idea if RED is available for the TRD pro trim?

The venture doesn't have the Pro Fox. The guy in the video doesn't know what he is talking about. None of the specs released mention the Fox to be a part of the Venture trim.

There’s not a snowballs chance that there will be a new engine/tranny for 2021. In fact, I would not expect to see any real changes to the ‘21s since an all new model is supposed to arrive in 2022.
The biggest, maybe only, difference aside from the obvious cosmetics, is that the TRD Pro has the Fox suspension and the venture does not (though can be optioned with the KDSS)

Yes you will see a new engine and tans. No idea if it will be 2021 or a later date. Will happen with gen 6, not this current generation (5). V6 should be in it and I imagine a turbo based on all the Tundra and LC leaks.

Updated headlights should be in the next gen 4runner. Maybe as a premium, but the option should exist

Payload and tow capacity I dont think change between trims but I could be wrong.

No clue about the differences in trim goodies. In my opinion the 4runner is over priced and I could only stomach an sr5 price if I was forced to buy one new.

Good luck and in my opinion with the towing and lengthy trecks in South America I would buy a lightly used Land Cruiser with the V8 long before buying a new 4runner.

can you please tell me if you see an AUX input anywhere in the new 2020? This the green color stereo jack input that used to be along side the USB input in the 2019 and older years. Perhaps the 2020 has it in the glove compartment or the middle console or somewhere hidden.

Switching from Wrangler to 4Runner...my question...should I go with good deal on 2019TRD Off Road Premium now or get 2020 SR5 Premium that will have all the new stuff? Just considering resale value 7-8 years down the road with the 19 not having the new safety features that will be standard on everything by then. Will it matter? You experienced 4Runner guys give me your thoughts. Will the trades on a 19 not be as good after few years because 20s have all the safety features?

There may be an impact on resale, but honestly you should get what you want. If you can wait a bit then why not go for a 20 ORP?

The safety features are garbage. I personally believe it will be the convenience technology that will become standard in the next 2-5 years that will impact resale value. Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, large touch screen, keyless entry, and push button start. After 5 years with those features, anything less feels like going back in time. It’s like buying a flip phone after an iPhone.

Buy what you want. You will have to live with it for those 8 years so you should buy something you will enjoy. If the resale price difference is 2 or 3 grand, and you save 2 or 3 grand now, you’ll have lost money due to inflation. Pull the trigger!

haha i doubt the 2019 trd road will be cheaper than the 2020.. the trd stickers will hold its value for awhile

Picked up my 2020 SR5 premium on Friday.

No Aux, You can easily disable to safety features. I didn't need it but driving 400 miles back home after the purchase, it was nice to have lane departure.

Also insurance is lower on the 2020's. I was driving a 2013 jeep patriot before, with the same coverage my new 4runner is only $38 /yr MORE than what i'm paying now. I called my INS agent he stated since it has the new safety features its cheaper to insure vs models that don't have any safety features.

Just an FYI. I'm loving my new 4runner!
