Nope, that's the easiest way to find manual windows. The real challenge is finding an SR5 V6. So far I've seen one with an auto and manual. No lockers yet.

Think it depends on which 'distributor' you got your 4Runner through....here in the SW US....elockers were a common option....but something you had a very hard time finding from Gulf States Toyota distributors (my parents live in that area).

That's because most GST 4Runners are 2WD. And that's true. Mine was sold at a dealer in NJ, but it came from the Long Beach CA port because the PO wanted an SR5 for the grey interior with a locker.

have you verified your 4:56 gears? i'm almost 99% sure the ONLY combo with 4:56 gears was the 3rz, manual, AND Elocker. But i might be wrong, so who knows...

I did the spin test last Aug with 2 pieces of white tape. & it's confirmed factory 4.56.
I dont even have the E-Locker light on my dash which sucks but my T4R is e-locked now.

I'm using a non-sunroof roof section on mine (hoping the curves match well) - let's see how that goes, maybe there'll be an adjacent section of roof-skin we can use on yours? (the headliner will need to come back out for the welding, though)

Headliner definitely. Let's see what sort of mess I make of mine, then we can see if I'm the right guy to weld on your truck! :biggrin2:

So I bought parts to fix my sunroof today:

Not yet - pulled the 4Runner into the shop to do it, stripped the interior, and started using it for product development.

Closing the sunroof will be the next to last thing I do before I put it back in service and swap it with the Taco (also for product development.)

Working on rear 4link for it at the moment.

Will do.

And yes, closing in on the rear bumper. (and outboard shock mounts. and 4 link. and stock link mount reinforcements with additional room for burly joints, yada yada.)

but I finished the Lower Link Mount Skids & Strut Tower Reinforcements!

I only see base models & low featured SR5's without them. I'd say there are as rare as a 5 speed or 3RZ.

Ok so don't even waste time with the Donor trucks. you can buy an OEM roof skin for 600 bucks! This job is cake with a brand new part. If you can drill and weld, it's a super easy comparted to putting on a quarter panel. The labor time is about 22 hours including pulling the Hatch, windshield, and headliner and associated trim. Then you need to blend down into the quarter panels, so you've got to pull the quarter panel glass on both sides. This is not a cheap job no matter how you look at it. But it can be one. I'd say a body shop would charge about 4-6k depending on the area of the country you are in.

I was able to put a few hours into this a couple of weekends ago, removing the donor roof section from the parts truck:

I cut back far enough to keep the roof support for the non-sunroof roof in place - this will rest atop the drip rail lower flange and hopefully control the height and contour where I'm welding it across the roof skin.

Now I have to learn how to remove the windshield of my 4Runner without destroying it.

Nice progress, I've seen folks use piano wire with broom handle pieces at each end. Mafioso preferred tool a Garrote, Lol windshield adhesive should be no problem.

Really curious how yours turns out, I gathered some parts to do mine last weekend. I texted a good buddy that owns a body shop ( after I already cutout the section that I thought I needed) only to have him tell me that I should have gotten the whole roof skin.

Oh well, I still want to try to use my factory 'sunroof delete kit' using the method that you want to do yours with.

I need to do this on one or 2 4 runners. Glad to see some photos on removing a roof. I may just pull the dents out and fix the roof that way. I have a 3rd gen damaged by hail.

He's probably right, but I'm not sweating it. We'll see if/how badly I warp the roof when I get back to that project.
