Has anyone had a new Runner shipped?

Ive located a new 2017 TRD OR Prem at a very good price. It is at a dealership that is about 1000 miles away from me. I am not interested in flying out and driving it home. Has anyone had a new vehicle shipped recently? Who did you use? What was the mileage and cost?

The dealer may have a hot shot transporter that they have a contract with that you could use. Rate is variable by a LOT of factors. $500 is an avg for 1000 miles, $2/mile.

Yeah, I had one shuttled from dealer to dealer. After they told me it would be transported on a trailer, the MF'ers drove it the entire way.

I told them to keep it when it got there with 300+ miles on it and went to a different dealer.

Yes, I had my Runner shipped, but not from dealer to dealer or anything like that. I had got mine shipped from Japan. It was boated over from Japan to Brooklyn NY, then driven to my dealership. I received it with 55 miles on it. I know this isnt what you were looking for but I figured I share.

I got mine shipped 800 miles on an enclosed transport for less then $750. Was delivered with 2 miles on the odometer and in showroom condition. Open carrier would be a few hundred cheaper.

I've had a dealer switch allocations with another dealer to get me my ORP how I wanted. No kdss no running boards auto start sunroof. Got it with 3 mi. They still tacked on rebates and discounts that summed up over 4500$

If I'm not mistaken, all 4Runners are still made and shipped from Japan. When I was looking for mine, one was found on a ship just in from Japan on the West Coast. Dealership had it shipped to their facility.

I had mine shipped from Massachusetts last week!

Had mine shipped from Mass as well, Cape Cod to FL east coast, took 3-4 days, got here with 6 miles on it.

Little over 1200 miles, was $800 and change.


Remember, the transporting company usually doesn't own the truck, they are brokers.

It made a lot of sense, got a very good price in Mass., a flt up would have been $2-300, food for a couple of days $200, a night in a Cape Cod hotel during the season, $200, and then fuel and 1200 miles on the clock.

They dropped the 4Runner at local truck stop, I went across the street and had a chocolate milkshake while they unloaded. Took a quick look, gave the driver a tip, I'll never drive across country to buy another car again.

Mar 2014 bought from dealer in Bozeman Montana, had it shipped open transport down to Tulsa Oklahoma, ~1400 miles. Cost a pretty penny because nothing was going that route really, $1300. Took a semi from Bozeman to Denver, then private carrier (2 car trailer behind a dually) down to delivery. Had it delivered to work, looked like a real fat cat that day having a new car delivered to me there. Arrived with 13 miles on it. Would have taken just as much time and money to fly up to get it and drive it back.

This. I have had dealers arrange transport a few times. They have people and can usually get it done cheap/cheaper than most places.

Ditto this! On the one I eventually got, that is exactly how Toyota did it for me.

Did the same - was able to get exactly the configuration I wanted to (as long as it was allowed) Was shipped to the port where they put on the port options/details, then trucked to the dealership. Drove it off the lot with 2 miles on it. Never bought a tailor-made suit, but have a tailor-made T4R.

I know that they are all made in Japan and shipped over but I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. The Trail I wanted was not here in the states and it was found in Japan (sitting on a lot or something) and specifically delivered to my region for me.

I wanted a Trail, no KDSS, in Magnetic Grey, with cloth seats and no sunroof. There was not one like this in the country. It was found in Japan and delivered. This is what I meant.

Understood. I would understand shipping from dealership, to dealership as an added cost, but coming from Japan I'd think it should be shipped directly to your dealership at no cost to you, maybe not...hope you enjoy your Rig....:thumb:
