Has anyone installed bluetooth on their 4Runner??

Hello,

A buddy of mine got an Acura TL (a sweet car btw though I like my 4Runner better) and he has bluetooth installed. Its really sweet, when he gets an incoming call on his cell phone the cars bluetooth pick it up and you hear "you have an incoming call" and the cell phone ringtone over the speakers. He can take the call, talk, and hang up without even touching his phone. Its sweet. I'm always missing calls to and from work b/c my cell is on vibrate (i'm military and having a cell phone ring during a briefing isn't a good thing in my line of work :bash: ); so it seems like a good idea for me. If anyone has done it please respond!

I have had three different kits (one was in my 04 that I traded) and I just recently upgraded my moto hf850 to the IHF1000. I love bluetooth car kits. It is such a nice feature. The only thing you will have difficulty with is that you cannot integrate the kit into the speakers. At least, I haven't figured out how to. The moto IHF1000 kit is as close to the acura handsfree link that you will get. It has voice prompts and commands. You can digit dial and store multiple numbers on the kit itself to dial from. It will announce the name of the caller if it is stored on the kit, or the number if not. It will also announce messages and voicemails. Really nice piece of hardware. They are around $200. Installation can be done at any best buy or circuit city.

I have the Motorola V710 from Verizon and I use the portable bluetooth speaker they sell. You could also buy a bluetooth kit that needs to be professionally installed, but I decided to go the easy route. This is nothing too exotic, but I think my setup is creative. I am thinking of maybe wiring the charger directly to the speaker under the dash but I will see.

What is the main difference between the 850 and 1000? I just bought 850 but ,maybe upgrade to 1000. Also because you had 2 different models, are all the plugs (mic, controller, speakers) same except the main box(a bluebox on ihf1000)

I have had the 1000 now for a little while. I had it installed by a local shop. It is alright but they mounted the microphone up in front of the driver, on the window. You can't really see it but my biggest problem is wind noise, the people I talk to can hardly hear me when I am on the highway. Other than that it is pretty cool. I will try to get some pics up soon.

Old thread but I hate making new ones for old subjects.

Been wanting to add a hands free setup to my new-to-me '06. Found a great deal on ebay for a Motorola HF850, new in the box, less then $40. A buddy of mine recommended it as he has one in both of his cars, and he's installed a few more for friends.

Got it ages ago but it took forever to get together with my friend as he lives 2 hours away. Finally did it today. He said it was the easiest install he's done yet, great access behind panels, etc.

Have made a few calls with it and clarity is good on both ends. I have the mike poking out up by the sunroof control. Not sure where to mount the speaker yet, it's jsut sitting on the passenger's floor right now. I need to find just the right spot where it won't get kicked and won't intrude on passenger space.

Synced right up with my iPhone, very simple. Need to find a good iPhone mount now, maybe from these guys: G3 Gallery

Can anyone suggest a good iPhone mount?

Wow, yes very old thread. I have a Parrot bluetooth setup in my 4Runner. It includes a display to show the name/number of the incoming call and is also useful for a bunch of other features. It integrates perfectly with the stereo system and sounds loud and clear on both ends.
