Has anyone purchased the 2010 4R through USAA

We purchased my wife's Highlander through USAA and had a good experience. The USAA price for the 4Runner seems too good to be true. Anyone done it yet?

I did. 500 below invoice. Didn't go through a "Selected" USAA dealer either. Just took the printout to the closest dealer with the 4Runner I wanted. I suggest printing out the options price list as well. Total up everything off the invoice price and add it to the base. Do it in front of the sales manager - drives them nuts.

I went through USAA and did go through a selected dealer and picked up my LE with a ton of options, for 40,300, which was listed bare bones for 39,600 I believe.

Used Bank of America for the loan % though, USAA wouldnt go under 4% here in the SW and BofA gave 3.5%, which my dealership matched in the end.

I didn't use USAA but AAA and like FlyNavy, I didn't stick with the "selected" dealers. I thought the prices sounded too good to be true as well and was sure there was some hidden fee or that they'd try to really undervalue my trade. I went to one of those dealerships to get a written quote, then went to the dealership I personally preferred to buy from and asked if they could match it. Not wanting to lose a sale to the dealership down the road, they did, even going under invoice.

The first dealership did try to undervalue my trade a little but I quickly got them back up to the number I was happy with. Other than that, it was no questions asked. They did try to stick to the "this price protection is only good for vehicles in stock" but since they had exactly 1 4Runner in stock (and it was a TE) they couldn't tout that line too much.

Good luck, I'll be looking forward to seeing more 5th Gens on the road in Florida (so far, I've seen only 2).

I used the service for pricing but found a local dealer that matched the price. I called 5 local dealers for a buy it today price match; 4 of them balked in one way or another. In my experience email dealing was a waste of time. Phone contact direct to the internet sales manager was quick and to the point.

PS: play with your location for different pricing through USAA. In my experience Atlanta (30301) yielded the best price.

I haven't bought mine yet (probably next month), but I did the same thing. I got a AAA quote that was obviously the "big" dealer close to my house. Took the quote to the salesperson I was talking to across town (that doesn't like the "big" dealer), and they quickly agreed to match it.

So...the price haggling is DONE when I'm ready to buy.
