has anyone replaced their gauges?

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has replaced their gauges. Either switching to aftermarket or changing to a higher year model.

1. I have a 97, can I put gauges from a 99 or 01 in my dash?

2. Is there a good guide on changing the color from green to white? I have heard you should use wax paper but I don't want to take it apart 3 times to get it right.

3. Has anyone replaced the plastic shield? Mine is a bit scratched up.

4. Where is the best place to get a full dash light kit? I would need new bulbs for the dash, shift, glove box, AC controls - pretty much whole dash. I would really like the brightness knob to still work as well.

The answer is no. The plugs are all different. Plus you will have no way of transferring the correct mileage over.

You can buy the indiglo face plates from ebay to change the color from black to white.

As for the scratched lens- You can buy another one or or you buff out the one you have. You can buy a headlight restorer (plastic) and hand polish all the scratches out.

I think I am confused about which noun refers to the dashboard/faceplate/gauges.

I know that some people have changed to the white faceplate. I always assumed that it was a complete kit with gauge displays and everything.

I replaced the clear plastic recently since mine started to get hazy. I believe it was around 40 dollars at Toyota.

Good to know the lens can be replaced... mine has a nice crack starting at the bottom center. Annoying !
