I have a set of Genssi Led conversion that my neighbor gave me. Honestly the output isnt much greater than a standard halogen bulb. Plus you have to deal with flickering and other electrical issues. The leds do not allow me to use my factory fog lamps. It makes the fog lamp switch into the high beam switch. :/

I think what he meant is, 3rd Gens have notoriously bad headlights. 5th Gens are much, much better so I'm not sure if the improvement will be worth the cost. There's less aftermarket support for 5th Gen headlights for that very reason.

I think a lot of people think that just getting a better bulb will make everything ok & then get disappointed.
The inside of our old housings get dirty & the reflector needs to be cleaned or housing replaced.

I wanted to update this as I NOW HAVE the Piaa L.E.D. replacement headlight bulb kit. These are going over very well. There is a separate post on these, and I've sold over 10 pair of these so far and they perform great, 2 year+ warranty, and shouldn't burn out.

I would like to thank Jason B at Burtman Industries as he answered all of my inquiries very quickly.
This review is for the PIAA H4 LED Bulbs on a 2001 4Runner SR5 sans fog-lights. These have been installed for a month and have been through snow, rain and below-freezing temperatures. They've seemed to hold up well so far.
Previously, I had the same Koito H4 stock halogen bulbs for about 6-years including Daytime Running Light mode. I liked them but just wanted something brighter.

Thanks for the great write-up! I've have about 15 people with these in 3rd gen housings. I think we are pretty lucky. It's sometimes a crap shoot, but I've talked with Piaa over and over about these, for almost 2 years before they released them and that's the one great thing is NOT getting flashed from oncoming drivers and not having to worry about the issues with HID's overtime. I've not had one return and everyone has been happy so far with the Piaa's.

I am interested in getting these but have a few concerns. I have a ham radio in my 4runner and as you may know, radios are sensitive to RF interference. I know some LEDs are really bad about interfering with radio equipment. Anybody have any issues with these bulbs and interference? Thanks.

Thanks. I also asked some folks in the ham radio community and they said it should not be an issue. The old men did come out and gripped at me about how LEDs blind oncoming traffic though....

I just got a reply back from my main guy at piaa.
"We are not aware of any RF interference issues to date with these products.
We had to address this a number of years ago with the earliest version of our LP530 lamp kits. A change was made to the controller and RF issues corrected.
There is sometimes a concern with the fan noise on some brands, but you will find our Piaa units run extremely quiet. "
