Has anyone used E3 spark plugs in their V8

Be careful if you opt to try them... In the V6 application the plug they list is a few mm shorter than the OE plugs. That's not ideal for efficiency but no big deal, right? The last few mm of thread will carbon cake. When you or the next owner goes to put in direct OE replacement plugs the last feww threads will be caked full.
Again, I don't know if that applies to the V8. I do know aluminum heads don't need any help coming up with reasons to crack (like jamming plugs into carbon caked threads).

Someone over on mud put them in. They deteriorated rather quickly and IIRC threw codes within 2k miles of installation.

I changed my plugs on my 98 3.4 PreRunner at 50K miles. When I pulled the first plug I couldn't help but notice that it was in NEW condition. So I take out the other two on the left bank and when I took out the first one on the right bank I noticed the plug was worn noticeably more then the other three. At this point I start to get that shitty feeling of something being wrong. After taking out the last two plugs I noticed the right bank of plugs are all showing ware and the left bank is looking new. So I'm thinking why, maybe there is an ignition problem! Then noticed the plugs were different, yes 3 NGKs and 3 Denso. Apparently this was done at the factory. The NGKs were like new and the Denso's were worn. Moral of the story; NOT ALL PLUGS ARE CREATED EQUAL!

Two different plugs were used in the same engine, it doesn't matter what engine proves that one plug is better then another. The NGKs were like new and the Denso's were noticeably worn. That's like saying your vehicle came with Dunflops, so they are better. You can use whatever makes you feel warm and fuzzy but the purpose of these forums is to get personal experiences from people who have used other products and give their opinion. Many other people will tell you NGKs are the best plugs on the market and from the 20 years I have been using them, I agree! If you can provide an experience that shows one product is better then another, with an open mind I will consider its use. I certainly don't solely believe a manufacture's claim of how good their product is.

The purpose of forums is to give experiences and opinion. If you are saying Denso plugs are better then NGK without ANY facts, that’s your opinion. There is no reason to be sarcastic or condescending about someone else’s experience (or difference of opinion).
By the way a PreRunner is not a 4Runner, it is a Taco.

You aren't going to get any improvements over OEM plugs as far as MPG goes. The spark is not a limiting factor on these engines.
NGK vs. Denso
The 3.4L engine used both NGK on one bank and Denso on the other bank. However, they're NOT the same type as the Denso copper only cost around $1.19 per pop while the NGK is around $6.XX per pop at the local Toyota dealer. Why Toyota did it in the first place? I don't know and there's never a good answers from those folks at Toyota dealer seems to be a correct answer. So, can we use all NGK for both banks? They said: You can try but they don't recommended so we stick with whatever Toyota recommended. We have three 4Runners with the 3.4L from 98-2000 model years and they all have NGK on one side and Denso on the other. Yes, the Denso plugs always look a little worn compare to the NGK, but then again they're totally different type/ heat range and price. Hope this help

Toyota had a contract with both NGK and Denso and the way they could guarantee they both were used equally was to put both plugs in each engine. I specifically remember the plugs I pulled out of that engine were the same type and heat range. I priced both at the time and both were approx $2. I find it hard to believe any OEM would use two different heat ranges in the same engine. That does not make any sense.

I don't think he was being condescending or sarcastic, I think all he ment is this is a 4th gen 4Runner forum talking about plugs that Number one are for a 3.4l V6 and it's not even a 4Runner, so if you don't mind, I would be will ing to bet that if you had a 4th gen 4Runner with a 4.7L V8,, you might even use the plugs that the engine was designed around,,,,,,,,
