I bought the V6 because I wanted the ability to have 2wd only, plus gas was 4.00 a gallon when I bought mine. But I would rather have the V8 so that I could put an exhaust on it. I grew up during the muscle car era and don't like the V6 sound with exhaust.

I have an 04 V8 and love it. So smooth and quiet!

My parents also have a 06 V8 too.

4.7 V8… I believe even to this day this is still one of smoothest V8 that were ever put in the truck:bravo:
BTW V8 was the main reason for me to upgrade from 3-r to 4-th generation and now having 4wd all the time I do not see going back.

Just picked up an 08 with the V6. Very happy with the performance thus far.

Agreed. The "real world" numbers would be the one's that only Toyota has which was the basis for their decision to drop the V8 from the 5th gen.

It would be interesting to see the V6/V8 broken down by model year.
I suspect that the numbers flip/flop around as the years go by.

V6 for me, never once felt like it didn't have enough get-up. I don't do a lot of towing so the v6 is enough for me.

I had to vote to knot the score at 61 all....the v6.. ultimate compromise between the lack of power in a v4 and gas hot nature of a v8...the true every man's engine :artist:
