Has your 4Runner ever broken down?

Has your 4 Runner ever broken down? I was just wondering since mine is still relatively new (2006). I'm not hoping it does, of course.

I had a Ford Explorer before I bought my 4 Runner. It was always needing repairs and eventually broken down on I-95 south of Richmond, VA. The pulley "tensioner" that helped support the belt broke off.

I was just wondering if anyone has any kind of problems yet.

FORD = Found On Road Dead

One of the reasons I looked at the Toyota was because of their reputation for reliability.
 
Never broken down....ever. And I don't expect it to break down either!

No issues with a '06 after 24,645 Miles. The Ford Exploder I previously owned was the reason for the purchase of a T4R. After rebuilding trans at 60K miles (under extended warranty), replacing GEM modules, tire recall, and piss poor Found On Road Dead stealers, the 4Runner was a welcome relief. :)

The Best of the Best Never Rest. And it ain't a Ford Exploder. :D
 
Recently, at around 72k the battery connection came loose and I had to tighen it to start the vehicle. That is the only issue I have had.
 
No - No - No No - ...

Oil changes, tires, brake pads, air cleaners, and general maint.

...nothing else.

63k 2003 4Runner Limited V8.

Previously owned a S-10 Blazer. Practically, it was rebuilt before in was payed off. Very disapointed.

190k miles on a 2000 LTD ... Never broke down. I literally ran it until the wheels fell off. They fell off about a year and a half ago(busted a rim). I replaced them and put another 60k miles on it. I've been through a couple batteries, 2 sets of wheels, countless oil changes etc... not 1 single engine problem.

Just sold the 2000 LTD for a 2004 SR5 last week. Looking forward to another few hundred thousand miles.
 
Mine has broken down but it was the dealer fault. They hooked up my remote starter wrong and it ended up blowing an important fuse. Everything else about my truck is 100% solid! Built Toyota tough! :D

that's awesome.

80K on the 03 runner V8. Engine is good as new. haven't even replaced the battery yet, but I should soon.
 
well I've only had my `runner since early March. 9,500 miles (3500 of it towing my trailer), not one single item. Perfect in every way. This vehicle just feels so solid, compared to what I've owned before, including Honda. I'm really liking this Toyota, my first one.
 
My 4runner has been rock solid, just the battery died on it last year in the cold. On the flip side, my Minivan - Sienna - has been in a shop once a month. POS. My 06 Corvette has never seen a shop.

My next car will probably be a GM or a Japanese made Toyota.

(My buddy with a US built Camry is having lots of issues too).
 
No but I'm having an issue with my pulley tensioner! I don't expect it to fall off but my drive belt is squealing again, 5K miles after it was replaced by the stealer despite my telling them I suspected the tensioner was actually the problem.

I rented a 2007 Ford Escape Ltd. a few weeks back. What a PoS. I couldn't believe how bad it was. Both the engine and the trim sucked. Engine was rougher than a skunk's ass and the dash was already falling apart.
 
I had a lot of Fords , even a 99 Explorer. Never had a problem with any of them and ran them up to about 80k ( 3 years ) and swapped out. Lucked out I guess.

My Toyota on the other hand has been great and I love it , no major problems , but still had to take it in for the exhaust rotten egg smell , front end alignment , brake pad rattle and now squeeking brakes. Nothing thats a huge deal and I'm cool with it.
