Hate my JBL NAV on 08 limited. Options?

I just got a 2008 Limited a few months ago...And I havent ever figured out how to use the stereo or the navigation. I hate it. The user interface is awful. The only feature I like is the bluetooth speaker phone and Sirius.

Ideally I want to remove it and replace with something simpler. I need advice or suggestions. I am happy to forfeit the NAV and buy a garmin to suction to the window. I love garmin and the user interface is easy for me...and for my wife ;-)

That said...the features I want to keep are. Satellite radio. Steering wheel controls. Ipod interface. Bluetooth if possible. In that order. I am willing to dump the reverse cam too.

Is that doable or am I dreaming? Could I try and find the stock toyota stereo that is one level down from this one? Without the NAv? Does that exist? Should I look at the Scion options?

I really want easy plug and play. I don't want to go with other complex after market options like Pioneer..where i'll need to fully re-wire my truck. And those close to $2K, right?

How about a Kenwood?

It's got a Garmin GPS

And an IPod interface along with Satellite and Bluetooth. . . . .

I just put a Pioneer 3300BT in today an so far its pretty awesome, sound quality has improved dramatically also the interface looks pretty intuitive

It has everything you are looking for, although you will need a few add on modules for sat radio, steering wheel and nav if you want it. As far as rewiring all you need is a harness and a dash kit. Fits really nicely and the illumination matches the rest of the car perfectly. Kenwood would be good since it uses garmin for its nav, interface and iPod response is a little slower tho.

Price is also better than factory options, the deck cost me 300 parts and harnesses and little extras cost around $40, instal took around 2hrs

Hey amativen, I just bought the same Pio last week, except I paid too much from Crutchfield, (BTW, if anyone is interested, Amazon has an awesome price right now) as they were throwing in the Metra plastic kit/ears, CD-IU50V Pio iPod cable and 1/2 price PAC TATO JBL plug-in interface. I have some questions on your experience. I installed mine myself...did you? Did you have Toy factory NAV or JBL?

I'm with amatvien! I was torn on the decision between Kenwood and Pio. I will only use Garmin NAV maps/HW/SW, which is why I really wanted the Kenwood, but it is more $$. I also bought the Pioneer AVH-P3300BT because it has bluetooth, Ipod connect and Pandora link for iPhone built-in and you can piece-meal everything else - BU cam, SAT, HD Rad. Really straightforward to install and uses your factory radio brackets (not sure if that is the same with factory NAV unit as it was w/ my JBL). I also ran the video-out and brake-bypass hack so that my daughter can watch DVD's on the rear seat headrest (Concept CLD, Amazon) while I am able to change the disk from up front on long trips and still use another source like music on SD card or AM/FM, iPhone. As much as I didn't want to have a suction-cup device, I bought a standalone Garmin 1690 w/ 2 free yrs. Garmin NuLink service (Amazon).

What options are out there that do NOT have NAV? just a double din stereo headunit. that works with my steering wheel controls, ipod, bluetooth speaker phone and has sirius. Does that exist? Does a Scion HU offer all of that? Like I said, I am happy to have my NAV separate and suctioned to my window.

The 3300BT does not have NAV. And will do everything you want it too. Check out crutchfield.com for other models , select in dash DVD and it will show you all that fit w/o problems

Ok, so you didn't have to buy or connect the PAC TATO adapter for the JBL amp. I am trying to figure out if I have the PAC TATO DIP switches configured properly. Sounds good though...Bluetooth is way better than my old Moto IHF setup.

Deactivate the Map/Nav?

Is there a way to just de-activate or turn on the nav display? So it just shows radio stations? The sound system aint bad...but the map display UI are awful. And I use my Iphone anyway.
