Hate the new tax plan?

well played,

I live in Kaliforniastan, where trump is considered the antichrist. My coworker hates trump so much that she literally shakes and cries. I asked her how can anyone hate someone so much, and she always says he is a rapist. The conversation usually ends right there....lol.

Literally made me spit out my drink, picturing your snowflake coworker.

From an article i read when Trump won:

“Colleges throughout the country are offering students a variety of therapeutic activities after Donald Trump was elected president on Tuesday night.

The Wall Street Journal highlighted a number of examples from across the country.

Students at Cornell University gathered to hold a "cry-in" with students drinking hot chocolate and using tissues handed out by school staff. The University of Kansas announced that it would regularly bring in therapy dogs to campus while Tufts University had arts and crafts on hand.

Such initiatives have immediately attracted criticism for students being too emotional over the election results and unable to withstand disappointment. Schools defended the gentle treatment by saying that students have real concerns about Trump's presidency.”

It is nice to see such strong character in our youngsters that will lead our country in the future...we’re screwed!

Once every week you need to innocently engage her in conversation about some Trump atrocity. It will wear her out.

I love how juvenile the country continues to be. It's all about red tie vs blue tie, my team is better than your team nonsense, like a damn sporting event. Here's a tip: none of them care, AT ALL. Every bill/law like this is riddled with back-door corrupt dealings to line their own pockets, and believing otherwise is simply naive.

The OP puts up about 5 examples of huge corporations putting out a little money to trickle down their savings. Does any of that even begin to compensate for the bailout years ago? What was that, almost a $trillion? This is why I just live in the country, and watch the freak show since we have front row seats here in America.

I've always said, it's too bad these billionaire a$$holes have a pissing contest with money instead of more righteous endeavors like competing for how many jobs they create, or how many houses they buy for their hard workers. Insteads it's all greed greed and more greed.

In conclusion, this tax plan is a bandaid for a gaping hole of a wound. Sounds great for now, but I'll be shocked if it really helps the country as a whole, long term.

Go red! Or blue, or whatever color f*ckin tie you like. They're all pricks.

I don’t disagree with some of what you said...but you seem to think that America is the only freak show in the world. Come on!

I am very much for getting companies to re-invest in America...such as Apple. I don’t care about side deals...I ONLY care about end result. If the tax law brings more jobs back to USA or bring more oversea investment back to USA or improve my retirement or get these workers extra bonuses this Christmas, then who am i to complain or even criticize something that I don’t understand fully.

End result to the consumer/citizens is what matters. And i see it already in my stocks and 401k.

Careful not to assume corporate tax relief will bring jobs back. The American worker and their education is subpar compared to offshore talent and pure determination in many many cases. Sure the corporations will have tax relief ......but it may go to profits and bonuses for a few while doing little for the typical unenthusiastic, often lazy, and ill educated American workers who continue to buy $500k houses with $15k prop taxes on $80k incomes.....and they still want the fancy vacations and latest cars. Not nearly enough of our higher education institutions teach the very simple basics of “personal finance”.....and kids won’t get it from their parents since few of them understand it either. A job, a salary, monthly recurring costs, mortgages, loans, taxes, etc. Ask some sub-40 people how much they know and you’ll be floored.

I know we've had our differences in the past, so don't take this as any sort of attack, but as an honest question looking for an honest answer. What makes you think the idea of trickle down is going to work in this form when it has never worked in the past (Reagan or Bush)? And what incentive does it give for large companies to bring back jobs to the USA?

Will see. And given the softness of today’s young folks (see post above), you may be right. :(

Will see. So far, there are examples of companies investing in factories here in USA, including Apple I believe (not for iPhones, but for parts manufacturing). Where there are new factories, there are new jobs to be had.

Certainly, the former tax plan has not helped us with jobs or companies keeping their cash here, right? We can agree on that. You can only go up from the bottom.

it doesn't even sound great now, just another way for the rich to get richer while throwing a few tenths of a cent to the working class.

Well, factories and manufacturing capability usually comes from the rich. So, in my view, to have jobs available, you need investments from the upper end. If the rich don’t want to invest money here, then you have ZERO JOBS, which is the case now. Factories and jobs don’t just come out of nowhere ya know!

Personally, i don’t give a rats ass if the rich gets richer...more power to them...they deserve it for their innovation/ideas/hard work!!!......as long as they invest back in America for new factories and jobs..

The idea of penalizing the rich to feed the poor has failed miserably. The poor remains poor and jobless despite governmental help. The rich says f-you and invest the money overseas. The rich will ALWAYS find ways around any penalty you place. The poor only suffers more as a result of Robin Hood style governing.

THIS tax plan is a good step in the right direction IMO.

What do you all think about the fact that it is borrowed money?

The $1.5 Trillion in tax cuts is just borrowed money on the US dollar. Even if the economy does grow as planned it will be $1.5 T in new debt. If the economy only grows a little such as 2% then it will be more like $2 T in added treasury debt.

So the government borrows $1.5 - 2 Trillion over 10 years, gives out tax breaks that overwhelmingly go to those making > $300,000 per year and in the Americans will have to pay for the borrowed debt down the road.

Debt against the dollar weakens the US economic position in the long run and a weak economy in 5 years will mean a weakened 401k in 5 years. It means nothing that the stocks are up. They were already up 20% this year before the tax cut.

It is ok to be conservative and against this tax give away to the rich ..... Right folks?

BTW another question ... the stock market is up 20+% in one year. Tech stocks are worth billions for companies with < 20 employees, Tesla is going to 1000 or $0. So who thinks we are due for a major market and housing crash?

You make it sound like we have not been borrowing money all along or that our debt was on its way down.

Is the dollar weaker now? Has it gone down since the tax plan passed?? Has 401k gone down since?
