Hate to ask, but I have a tire size question.....

I'm gonna have 2 inches in the front and 3 inches in the rear. Stock UCAs. 17 inch Sequoia rims. SR5. I've done searches but get lost in all the numbers. Not looking for recommendations on brands just size recommendations. It will do mild off roading, trails and mud. Nothing extreme. So I'll prolly look into All Terrains if that makes a difference. Any info I left out to help with recommendations?

For what? Tire size or type?

For size, 32" would be fine probably unless you want to go bigger and then might have to modify a bit to fit more.

And figure out what aspect you want. I plan on getting Duratracs because they are aggressive and are rated very good for snow and ice, which I put a higher value on than other performance metrics. If I didn't care about snow and ice as much I would probably go with Goodyear Kevlar MTRs since a lot of people run them with good results (including a lot of vehicles in KOH) and my buddies Jeep is running them with good results.
 
Just looking for what would be the biggest basically without rubbing and stuff. I'm horrible when it comes to understanding tire sizes. I know what they mean but I don't really understand the shortcut terms. Like I said, I searched and tried to get it but people were adding so much more info made my head spin. So I just put out there what I have...Or will have soon.
 
Well the thing is, without modifying your bump stops a lift doesn't actually help you clear anything assuming your suspension flexes to it's extents (the bump stops). So you should be able to run a 32" tire without any issues. Though then you also get into back spacing and other things, which is where it gets confusing. Since a lift doesn't actually help tire clearance on full compression (full wheel stuff into the wheel well), only back spacing (where the rim puts the tire relative to the mounting face) or wheel spacers (essentially the same thing as back spacing) do anything.

So in short, at full stuff how far out the tire sits affects if you will rub. I don't know what backspacing is needed for 32" tires to be fine, but I think for a 32" tire you should be fine normally since I think that's what stock was running but someone will have to chime in or do some research to confirm what I'm saying.

As far as the "shortcut" terms, they are just metric terms. It's the ratio of the tire height to the width (or vice versa, I don't know) in centimeters. The basic idea, is that a "285" is a 33" tire, and a "265" is a 32" tire, and over 300 is usually 34"+. Though there is also 255/80 and other weird sizes which I don't know what they translate too, but you can just search for a tire size calculator and it'll calculate it into normal units:

32" tall and 10.5" wide sounds like it should fit with no rubbing and you won't have to worry about back spacing.

Hey man, I just upgraded my tires to a 285/70/17 Duratrac. Same wheels.

One thing I will promise you is that a tire of this width (~11.2") WILL NOT fit without a spacer, on those wheels.

With these tires, and 1.25" Spacers, I rub a tiny bit, at one point just before full lock. Other than that, I have not noticed any rubbing.

I am running ~3" lift front and rear.

Sounds like you need to stick to a 265/70 17. They are 31.6" tall. The good thing about this size is there are plenty of options.

285 isn't the height, it's the width, 285mm. The 75 is the aspect ratio, which is telling you that each sidewall is 75% tall as the width. 285 * .75 = 213.75. Multiply that by two and you get 427.5. That converts to 16.8ish inches, then add 16 inches for the rim size and you get 32.8ish for your tire size.

I would either go with a 265/70/17 or 275/70/17. There are only a few tires made in the 275 size. It it would be perfect for your lift. It's basically a 32.5 and would look perfect on that lift. Check out [MENTION=9596]paddlenbike[/MENTION]'s build as he has them in the cooper ST's on tundra rims. They look sweet. 33's will rub for sure as they do on mine with 3" up front.

They make ATV tires right? Never heard of them making car/truck tires. I mean if they are DOT approved...would have to think they are a normal and safe tire. Me personally I would stick to the name brand guys, you're going to have them on there for several years.

Edit: looks like they were in cahoots with Cooper tire so probably a rebranded version of one of there tires.

No, if what I found out after looking into them seemed to be OK then I might have tried them. People have been using those tires without any problems so far. Of course that doesn't mean they're great tires. It was something passed over to me by a friend. I used the eBay link as a reference.
