Have you cleaned your MAF? Did it fail or throw a code AFTER?

Guys, I havent done my TB work yet; planned for sunday. I pick up the gasket on sat from Toyota. The performance Toyota one is out of stock in whole US so I just ordered the normal D gasket.

MAF sensor cleaner is made to evaporate quickly. No canned air necessary...

right so, flooding the MAF with the stuff won't allow it to evaporate properly and leaves a residue, like i said in the my previous post short little squirts with time to dry in-between, even if it's a fast drying fluid if you go crazy with it , it will leave behind a residue.

Back in the day when i was really stupid i had cleaned my MAF for the hell of it and it threw a code after. It was a fairly new MAF too. I was an idiot and thought I broke something so i took it in to the stealership to pay the hefty price for them just to replace it.

I used the MAF cleaner but maybe didn't allow enough time to dry? I don't know but to this day I've cleaned it a couple times now and haven't got any MAF codes. I've also cleaned my brother in laws sensor in his sequoia, and it too is going strong, no codes. I wouldn't stress about it, just follow what everyone here says and it should be good

Correct. With some common sense and following the directions on the can, it will evaporate quickly.

Hey Brian, about those TRD O ring gaskets, I literally just bought mine 2 days ago from trdparts4u so I don't know if they've sold out but I'm going to try that instead of the metal gasket. I'll be putting that and new spark plug wires this weekend and let you know how it goes. Having my long time friend mechanic look at the idle problem too, another set of eyes and ideas couldn't hurt a thing at this point. Totally off topic but I scored a set of 4 GT Radial Adventuro MT's with tons of tread left for $200 on cl so those are going on Saturday. Just a transition tire to go up in size and mine are pretty bald before the nitto trail grapplers get purchased.

Just cleaned MAF sensor and throttle body as well as running Sea Foam through the intake and adding the rest to the gas tank. Knock on wood but I just did a 20 mile trip around town and no CEL. I did notice a slight increase in power and throttle response though! I'll run a can through the crankcase right before my next oil change is due. Hope to see a slight gain in fuel economy! 2002 Limited 4X4 - 149,000 miles.
