Yeah, I posted this a month or so ago. Made me think about what makes a vehicle "safe."

A few months ago I swerved lanes on the highway. I was glad I was going the speed limit. Take 'er easy out there. The 4Runner wasn't designed for high-speed lane changes.

Is an SUV's propensity to roll-over in high-speed swerves really news to anyone?

This crap was all over the news in the 70s with the USPS Jeeps, and then again in the 80s with the proliferation of the Ford Explorer and other SUVs.

This crap was all over the news in the 70s with the USPS Jeeps, and then again in the 80s with the proliferation of the Ford Explorer and other SUVs.

...and again in the 90s and most accidents I see around town involve SUV's, particularly in inclement weather (observation, not fact). So, as long as we have so many people striving for their own Darwin awards, this stuff should be circulated more often. I know I drive safely in my tall, narrow, high-center-of-gravity vehicle, but it's the other yahoo's that concern me.
