Having second thoughts... Still within 30 days

I wanted to go with BFG all terrains, but I wanted something bigger than 265/70/17 and the only other size I could fit without rubbing is 275/70/17 but its an E load. So my buddy that works at firestone told me E load would be a really harsh ride and I would regret it, he convinced me to go with the 275/70/17 C load Firestone Destination A/T and I got them for $670 OTD with life time rotate, balance, and alignment. I can't really argue with the price, and the fact that they are rated the #2 best A/T tire next to the #1 REvo 2, but it just doesn't have the same look I wanted that the BFG all terrain has. I have 30 days to decide if I want to keep these tires or switch to the BFG, What would Yall do, keep the Destination A/T or get BFG 265/70 or the harsh 275/70 BFG E load??

To me, the decision would be based more on need than anything else. The Destination AT is a great on road tire but doesn't do very well off road. The BFG AT handles the road pretty well, but will also hold it's own off road. The look of the BFG's is great, but are they practical? Also, remember the BFG AT seems to run large, so you may have more rubbing with it that with a similar size of another brand. I don't know anything about the load ratings, so no help there. As for size, a lot of guys run and are happy with the 265/75's, so I wouldn't really be concerned too much with that.

I like the 275 size and I, obviously, have a soft-spot for the 255-75 size too.

That price for the highly rated Firestone is tough to beat. On a daily basis it's probably a better tire too unless you off-road a lot.

It's a really tough call. I look at $300 as some nice recovery gear, a night at a B&B with my girlie or lots of other stuff that would make the T4R cool. Are 275BFG's really $300 better than the very good 275Dest A/T's is the question... Only you can decide.


All I know is 4th gens with 275's look great! BFG's are great they are just VERY proud of them IMHO.

When I had BFG's they were unstoppable!- or I was! Loud but they LOOK GREAT and got me thru anything. Daily driver 85% an some offroad 15%. I now have Nitto Terra Gaps which are quieter an still get me where I need to go. I say FIRE the Firestones :gun4:and get the BFG's:banana:.

I know it sounds stupid but I have only taken my 2WD 4runner off road once when I went hunting and I have owned it for a year. So the decision making on tires literally has nothing to do with off-road capabilities, call me a poser i guess but I just like the rugged look of the BFG A/T. But like you said Cj3flyr, 300$ in to put towards exhaust or new headlights sounds pretty good. I'm sure some of you have noticed, I have been going back and forth between the mud terrains and km2's and A/t since last march. I just don't want to let my 30 days pass up and regret not goin with the BFG

Pretty much sums it up. The extra weight and money isn't justified IMO. I believe is General, but there's a company that makes a tire that looks similar to the BFG but is cheaper. I think I saw them at Tire Rack. I know what you mean, I seldom off road unless it's to get to a hunting spot, but love the look of an aggressive AT/MT. However, by the end of the day I know the Destination AT's or Revo's suit my needs better, and that must come before my "wants". As for me, I'm going to a 255/75/17 Destination AT when the time comes.

they're are some people who prefer E load tires, ive always put them on my 4x4 s, personally, i think a car should ride like a car, & a truck should ride like a truck. ya never know, you might end up likeing them. so you know how i voted.

I want to see some pics!!! I just got my DS spacers and am looking for some tires that will handle 90% on road and deal with the 10% snow and sand I handle going riding and surfing all while looking good.....post 'em up!!

I had bfg at 's on my 3rd gen and i loved them. I was in the same boat as you, i dont go off road that much, but when i did they were great tires. Also did awesome in the snow, which we do get occasionally around here, and they saw plenty of snow on road trips as well. Not sure how the firestones do in that climate, but i know how bfg's do! If you have the money to do it, i would say get what you want. you have to live with which ever tires you get for many miles, so you might as well like them!

Swamp Rider I think you're referring to the General Grabber AT 2, which does greatly resemble the KO. They make them in the standard 265/65/17 size, and Tire Rack seels them for $142. per tire. Oddly enough the slighty bigger 265/70/17 size is actually cheaper at $139. per tire. By comparison the BFG KO 265/70/17 price at Tire Rack is $200. even.
