got a 99 with 146k, went out to crank it up the other morning and it wouldn't turn over, after about 3 or 4 tries it finally cranked up. it was ok for 3 or 4 days, then i went to crank it up and on the first try it didn't make a sound, on the 2nd try it fired up. it has been fine ever since. i thought the battery was about to go but it checked out ok. sounds like a starter problem, what do you guys think ?

I'm having the same issue. It maybe a loose wire. It started happening to me after some wheeling and mudding. It could be the starter, but I doubt it

Correct. My negative battery terminal was a little loose and I tightened it, it made a little difference but more likey a wire between the ignition switch and the starter

Guys--stick "starter contacts" in the search box and click. It's a known issue and a cheap fix--if you do it yourself.
