Hazy Headlights

This is kind of off-topic but I thought that one method would apply to almost any car. My Prelude's headlights lenses have become very hazy and yellowish. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good way to get them to become clear again. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get a mothers power ball, the one that attaches to a power drill, and some meguiars plast-x. Wet sand the lenses with 2000 grit until the entire surface is hazy and polish with the ball until shiny again. For protection get lamin-x or 3m clear bra protection.

both: soak the paper in water for a few minutes, use a spray bottle to keep the surface wet. it will move the sanded material away and act as a lubricant to ensure a uniform surface for polishing.

I did it on my Jetta, it worked very well, but I do need to re-polish every couple of months.

I want to see if putting a plastic protector over them would prevent further clouding. Hopefully it would keep the air off the surface causing the oxidation.

PlasticX works wonders. I used it on my 2003 G35, and it turned out awesome. I just used some elbow grease, and it worked well. I'm always a little hesitant to sand.

tried the plastic x and it did a great job. except the most haze was inside the sealed headlight assembly. 238 dollars from honda and ebay. Guess I will have to live with hazy headlights

You can also use a high speed buffer and some heavy compound.
I use this method at work all the time.

I had the same problem with my 95 Eclipse GST (When I still had it). I used Mother's aluminum polish and a little elbow grease, then followed up with some carnuaba wax. Cleared it right up, but it had to be done every six months or so to keep it that way.

If you have the marbles you can also clear coat the headlights. My gf's santa fe had fogged headlights and I wet sanded them and then applied a thin coat of clear coat from a rattle can. Looks good enough for a 100k hyundai
