Head Gasket Replacement

I've got a 94' 4r with the 3.0 V6. I'm going to replace my leaking head gasket.
Is there a better or special gasket to do the replacement with?
Is there any helpful information out there to make the job easier or to make it work better or last longer?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I recall that in another thread about the 3.0 V6 and the blown head gasket, a member posted that metal gaskets are available and should last longer. The gasket goes because the block is cast iron and the heads are aluminum, so the two expand at different rates.

Whatever you do get there is a left and a right gasket and they are not interchangeable. Be sure to line them up with all the passages on the block surface. Also I believe the one's from Toyota are marked in one corner as to left and right.

You may be aware already, but there is a "Campaign" from Toyota regarding faulty head gaskets. My entire short block was replaced on my '94 at 213,000 miles w/ the 3.slow at no charge.

Hope that helps a wee bit.
