head gasket woes

Have a '90 4r @ 180,000 mi. Had head gasket replaced 50k ago. Have been hearing rumours that they need replacing about every 50k or so due to design flaws. Should I be worrying about having this done again and be expecting future failure or forget about it and rest easy at night? Also, what signs/symtoms should I expect if it goes? Thanks.

I have never heard of them going every 50k because of a design flaw. I don't believe that. Signs of them leaking are; coolant loss and white smoke out tail pipe with a sweet smell to the exhaust.
If your cooling system is in good shape and you change your coolant every 2 years you should be fine.

No problem. I do prefer to use the red Toyota coolant in my personal vehicles. As long as your flushing and filling it you should be OK.
