Head gasket ?

Ok this might take a minute , since I'm not a mech. don't know alot about the heads on our v6 . That said saw a comment by our resident Blackworkinc about a new gasket for it , now is it the head that's new or the gasket ? If never had problems can we replace the gasket & save it from the infamous blowup ? Could this be possible to do ? Would it be to costly or could this be preventative maint. ? Just asking as a reason to justify for spending the $$ if it's doable . Thanks Mike n LV Hope this makes sense

Its a redesigned Headgasket, not the actual cylinder heads. I don't remember when we started with the new design, I just know its a superceeded part number to the factory component.

Headgasket replacement is expensive work on most any vehicle, I wouldn't recommend it as "preventative maintenance" But if you're vehicle is showing signs of a headgasket leak I would go ahead and do it sooner than later.

Thanks Blackworksinc , & knock on wood lucky to have previous owner was anal , not every 5 thou. but changed oil every 3 . And @ dealership which I trust . So ok when you say $$ ball park me if not to much trouble ? Thanks Mike n LV

Labor is usually something like 12-ish Hours (I don't have access to TIS or ALLData right now so I can't give you an exact estimate, this is just from previous experience on many vehicles.) I think most dealer rates are like $140-ish an hour? That's easily almost $1700 in labor not including parts, other maintenance work, and taxes, disposal fees, ect ect.

Holy shniikys Batman ok kinda figured it would be high ! Thanks for reply on this , so gaskets are like 63$ labor is off the charts , but that's only right guys work for a living too . Might be cheaper than waiting for the blowup ?
