The first thing you should do is search online for a Factory Service Manual to download. It will have step-by-step instructions for everything. Look at the engine section, then decide if you think you can handle it. You can also find a lot of how-to's if you look, HG's go all the time.

I dont know what it's like on the 22RE but the first HG replacement I ever did was on a 4cy Honda Civic, wasn't too bad took me about 8 hours be sure to get the head planed and remove/replace the head bolts in the correct sequence just a few tips for you
good luck!

Quotes for a Head Gasket Repair

So the quotes are in for my Head Gasket Repair. (CAD $)

$2500 for the whole job, HG parts included from 3 businesses around town (machining, Oil, Coolant and all that)

$1500 parts included (plus the timing belt changed) from a friend of a friend (cash job)

Just curious, the friend has quoted me a couple hours labour for the Timing belt. Is it all already COMPLETELY pulled apart for the Head Gasket or would there be a bit of time in there getting to and changing the Timing Belt?

ie, is he sneaking in an extra hundred bucks or so ;)

ps, its the V6
