Head Room with sun roof

So I have only two gripes about my 4runner(the 4wd already discussed) and the headroom... I'm 6'1 and in my 4runner I have a Sunroof, my head is basically touching the roof unless I lean back. I talked to the dealer and the salesman said that the Sunroof takes 3 inches of headroom away, plus the previous owner put leather in after they bought it so I'm hoping they may have added some cushion but still seems like that wouldnt take a lot of headroom away.

I'm only Six feet tall, I had more head room in my WRX! This doesn't seem right for a nearly fully size SUV sunroof or not... I know asians aren't tall but come on Toyota give me another inch at least, I haven't taken it offroad yet but I know my head is gonna get banged up when I do... Anybody else have this problem that isn't Yao Ming?

it was one of the first things i noticed and i am average height. just the proximity to the visor area. i didn't let it keep me from buying the truck and now i am used to it.

Absolutely no reason for trading in my 4Runner but it was an issue for me and yes, I banged my head a lot on a bouncy road. I'm 6'2 and about 230 lbs. I felt cramped. Anyway, I set my seat on way lean back and it was okay, but then I lost the rear seat space.

Im 6'2" and i will say i hit my head a couple times a month on the roof.:dammit: My seat is set all the way back and leaned back some which is very comfortable, for me. In the past, my dad(6'5") has borrowed my runner and all hes ever said is, "its a little snug". But it is snug compared to his tundra. I like the size of my 4runner, its nimble and quick! I had a lifted titan before; loved it but there was too much truck! Headroom is just something you gotta adapt to.

That’s the main reason I spend at list two months looking for 4RUNNER without sunroof. I am 6’2 and originally I wanted 2005 V8. When I tried one with sunroof at my local dealer I said that I can live with anything but sunroof. To find 4runner 2005-07 truck without sunroof appeared to be not easy. So after waiting two month I jumped on the first truck that came for sale without sunroof and never look back. Could not be happier with my 2005 V6 and no sunroof. I can tell you that the headroom is no issue for me, it is about 3-4 inches above my head but it feels like it even bigger when you look up.

My 4Runner is BY FAR the best vehicle that I have ever owned and I only have 48,000 miles on my 03. Needless to say, I plan to have it for many years to come.

My only complaint is the lack of headroom. I'm 6'4" and I completely agree with the other guys on the description of how they need to drive. My seat is fully back and down and leaned way back. I had a 2000 Nissan Altima with a sunroof and considerably more headroom than the Runner. Sunroof or not, why can't they just build the roof higher?

I agree with you: I am 6' 1'' and my seat has to be at lowest setting and my head still brushes the roof on bumps.

I'm 5'7" and often bump my head when getting into my 4Runner. Of course, my other car is Honda Element... when it comes to head room, Honda Element is the king!!

I'm a hair over 6'4" and walked away from a 4runner years ago because of the sunroof. I've had vehicles in the past with sunroofs but none that take up that much space. Very pleased with the sunroofless SR5.

I'd still like another inch or two of leg room...

Headroom

I totally agree guys the headroom stinks. I looked for a while for a V8 with heated leather and no sunroof but just couldnt find one.

Love the truck but the lack of headroom is pretty annoying. :ybrick:
