Head Unit sitting too high

Hey,
I just installed my new Alpine CDA-9886 the other day. Seemed like it fit perfect. The head unit fold down from the top to get at the CD slot. But it won't fold down without force because the HU is too snug to the top part of the plastic dash panel. Has anyone had this problem? Is it a problem with my mounting kit or something?

I will post some pics later tonight.

are the mounting brackets in the correct slots? On my HU there were multiple locations to mount it to to get the correct height.

My Pioneer has a similar issue. The faceplate doesn't come off unless forced off and CD's often have a hard time ejecting. I corrected it by loosening the screws that hold the radio in, applying pressure on the top of the radio then retighten. It gave just enough clearance.

The mounting brackets only fit one way, so they should be in the right place. The mounting kit and HU was bought from Crutchfield. I will try loosening the screws and putting pressure downward then retightening.

My old Clarion had a fold down face to access the cassette deck. It did the same thing as yours because the face was fat and it would rub against the trim bezel. If you don't have any gap at the top then you may be able to put some spacers at the mounting points so the h/u sticks out farther and clears the trim bezel.

do you have the surround deck bracket installed?
can you take a pic of it.
When I had my deck installed, I didn't end up putting the surround deck bracket thing, because it was way too snugged.

Both the deck that came with my Runner and the one I installed myself have had the same issues! I'd be interested in a fix too if anyone has one.

My alpine CDA-9883 does the same thing. I don't really worry about it actually because I park in a garage, and listen to my Ipod 90% of the time so I rarely have to deal with it.
